Ok i got the game today and installed it and updated it and everything, but when it was launching a window popped up and said "Your video requires (however you spell that)4 texture units". Ok what does that mean?

First make sure that you have the lastest DirectX installed. However my guess is that your card is not supported by eq2. I know for a fact that any nvidia MX cards are not supported. If you could post what your card is i could give ya an exact answer on this.

I had the same exact problem when i bought the game on realease day. I talked to some techs in the chat room and the only thing they could come up with is that I needed a new graphics card. I'm willing to bet that the graphics card you have is a GeForce MX series card which doesnt have the pixel shading capabilties to support EQ2. If this is correct the only solution is to buy a new card, there is no update or driver that can correct this issue ya just have to go and spend the bucks on a new card. Which i did, spent around $110 (cuz im cheap) and got a GeForce FX 5500 (overclocked). It runs the game smoothley and i didnt have to spend and extra 200 - 300 bills to play the game. Hope this helps.

Ok, just because I keep seeing this thread over and over... if you are getting this message and you own a Gateway system, you most likely have an GeForce 4 MMX card which is not powerful enough to run the game, the card is a watered down version of the geforce series and likened to a race car with a Mitchibichi Mirage engine, the only thing it can outrace is a golf cart. (and yes, sigh, I am speaking from personal experience on both the gateway and the car, which I am happy to say I gladly got rid of ...er the car) hope that helps, as there are alot of people with the MX card that are posting, I feel deeply saddened for you all :-(

i'm not sad for them. what do you expect from a $50 card? Saw them at fry's today for that much..... do you really expect to play a state of the art game with it?

Yes, but when the Geforce MX series was introduced originally, Nvidia didn't make it obvious that they did not support shaders (which is why they won't run EQ2). It was bad marketing and more than a little misleading.
