A few questions about EQ2.Follow

#1 Dec 27 2004 at 11:05 AM Rating: Decent
Hello, I am from FFXI, and It's getting to the point where there is nothing to do. I would like awnsers from previous FFXI players, but any awnsers are highly appreciated.

So, I wanted too know, how is leveling in EQ2 compared too ffxi, fun wise. FFXI basically, is just staring at the monitor occasionally hitting macros (extremely boring).

How is the end game-content? FFXI there is HNM's, dynamis, and boredom. I would like this too have something actually worth getting too high level, lots of raids, and events.

I heard this game CAN be soloable, but hard with buffs. How would a melee + mage class do in an exp session?

I played FFXI for roughly a year before making the switch to EQ2. My answers will be brief as I am at work, but if you look back a couple of pages you will see other threads with more detailed replies.

Leveling in EQ2, especially at lower levels, is much more fun. A good chunk of your xp comes from quests, and when leveling you don't just sit in one place killing crabs. Instead you often work on completing quests as you level, and that takes you through entire zones or dungeons to do.

Its hard to say about endgame content, because people are literally just reaching 50th level now. There is a good chance that FFXIs endgame is more fleshed out as they have had two years to do it. However, EQ had the most detailed endgame of any MMPORPG, and I expect that EQ2 will be the same. There are only 50 levels right now, but rumors say it will go up to 200 eventually.

I can get 10-15% xp an hour or so while soloing at level 34. I can get double that in a good group. So soloing is possible, but definitely slower than grouping. And any class can solo, really unlike FFXI where only beastmaster could.

The best pair for xping would be a healer and a tank. Brawler + Shaman flies through the game in my experience. Though, of course, a full group is still better xp.

Hope that helps...

Soloing in EQ2 is definately doable. Slower but doable. I got WHM to 48 and PLD to 34 different characters and neither could solo after around 15. That's pretty terrible IMO. EQ2 seems o be more interactive when it comes to battle, though HO's are just like SC's you learn them use them and then re-use them.

Overall I would say that I believe I will have more fun playing EQ2 for a longer period of time than I did with FFXI(one year or so.) Of course I cannot say just yet since I am only 20.

Quests in EQ2 are much better organized with the Journal and Waypoints, it's hard to ***** it up. Though you still have to think if you don't wanna use Alla or some other site.

One other nice thing is that you can get good armor by questing. Not just by farming for 200 hours to get mucho mula so you can go buy some from the AH. I like that.

I will suggest that you get it and try it. It has been loads of fun for me.
