Adept III must havesFollow

#1 Dec 26 2004 at 11:25 AM Rating: Decent
Adept III's are made from rares. This much we know (or you do now). Tier III rare- Rough Jasper is going for 12-15gp on Neriak as of Dec. 2004. Needless to say most people may only have 1 adept III per tier as it seems you will out grow it before you get another 14gp or find another rare.

Here is my question: What would you propose as the must have Adept III? You can break your answer down by tiers if that makes it easier.

Depends on what type of scout you are honestly. If I had to choose only one adept 3, It'd be either sneak attack or pierce, since they repop so fast and I use them so much.

29 Ranger here, I would say for me that the best adept3 to have would be Shadow Lunge ( lvl 24 ), Shadowflame, Sniping shot, Triple shot, Lightning strike, impede, corner, shrouded strike. Those are just the ones that I feel are important to me mostly. I use so many skills, but those are most used.

Last night, I mined my first piece of Coral so I'm in a similar situation.
I was thinking that I may either upgrade Pierce(since I use
that quite a bit) or Bladed Furry(I don't think there is a
spell upgrade for that).
When I mined my only piece of Lapis, I chose Quick Strike
mainly because I was soloing alot at time. If I had to pick over
again I would go with Sneak Attack or maybe Evade, which like Bladed Furry I don't think it has higher level spell which would make it obsolete.

Lightning strike will replace your pierce in a few levels... I don't know what advantages the Blade Flury will give you, if any since it's going to be grey soon for you.

If your a Ranger I would get triple shot, or flaming shot, as these are very high damaging, due to multi-shots. Lightning strike, and lunging thrust would be good choices as well.

This is what I would do at least.

What about for Bards/Troubadours/Dirges? Any suggestions? I'm only level 11, so I could use plenty of guidance!

I heard a ranger the other day praising the value of having adIII makeshift arrows... apparently it gave 45 carbonite hunting arrows instead of the 20 that the adept 1 did, and i imagine you'll probably be using it all your days. All damage spells will get replaced eventually as level cap goes up and up, its things like sneak and makeshift arrows that you'll be using for ever.

those of you who played eq live, imagine upgrading a crappy spell like conflagration (drood here) thinking it was going to be amazing doing an extra few hundred damage, then coming to level 60 and realising you could have an uber-snare as opposed to a damage spell you never use except for farming.

upgrade the utility spells, they dont become obsolete. just use adIIIs for damage spells unless your gonna be usin them for a long long time.

sorry for the bad gramar lol, typing fast

I honestly would not go for an adept 3 Makeshift arrow... You'll end up getting an upgrade in your low 30's called Rip, that gets you a feyiron arrow (much better than carbonite) and does damage to the target.

Then once again in the 40's there is another upgrade that I do believe is called tear, which likely gives a Feysteel Arrow (or something nicer than feyiron).

The point is, you'll outgrow the makeshift arrow, and even app 2 I think is more than sufficient for your arrow needs into your 30's.

33 Troubadour here.

you have to take in account what abilitys will be replaced at higher levels.

adept3 the abilitys that buff but take no concentration. Or an ability that is grey that you still actually use.

I would suggest performers talent (this can stack with other buffs and cost zero con.) or quickstrike. nice to have the extra hit at low powercost.

I am a 33 ranger and I still use makeshift arrows. I save my fayiron arrows for group hunting, but when solo, I burn up a stack of arrows in 5 or 6 mobs. You can easily kill those mobs before your 10 minute timer resets for the makeshift arrows and if you are lucky, you can get off 2 rip(s) per mob yielding only 2 arrows. Makeshift arrows seem like they will always be used for the solo ranger.
