Main Attributes for the fighters?Follow

#1 Dec 26 2004 at 10:59 AM Rating: Decent
I'm curious what everyone thinks is the most important attribute for each of the classes...Being a Monk, I have always assumed Agility was the most important to me, but I've found several place on the net stating that STR is the most important for all tank-classes.

Thought?

Ah see there is the problem. Monks (and Bruisers for the matter) are not really a tank class. They are a damage/second class(dps). Like the wizards we all love, your job is more to put out damage than to take it. Yes, if there is no other fighter around, you will be called to be the tank. But if there are other options (any other fighter class) you are better served at putting out damage than recieving it. To that end, I would say that agility is slightly more important, but both strength and agility are needed, so plase do not go make a rotonga fighter for the agility (don't get me wrong, I love the rats. Good scouts and tasty with a bit of hot sauce). Strength and agility are about of equel importance for the brawler classes, with agility (as it improves your chances to both hit and avoid hits) being the slight favorite.

WRONG!!!

Pick a ratonga figher. Wear robes, use bo's, make him a brawler, and name him Marster Splinter. Then get 4 four friends to play 4 iksar and you got the teenage mutant ninja lizards.

OK, you need somebody to be Bebop the ogre and Rocksteady the Troll.... Shredder can be human berzerker... a bunch of dark bluish grey erudites for The Foot Brawlers.... I guess another ogre as guardian can be Crane... we can always pretend there is a brain in its stomach...

And you canlive in the thieves way... you'll be famous!!!

I love reading people talk about how bruiser/monks can't tank. It is actually pretty damm funny. But for the main attribute, go with str. More Str More Attack More Power.

I also like reading that bruisers can't tank. I have a lvl 20 bruiser and have tanked with a vengeance. As long as you keep your agility up, you shouldn't have a problem. Sure, I can't wear heavy armor but who needs it if the mob can't hit me. I soloed my brawler to lvl 20 taking double arrow up greens and blues. The exp is excellent and you kill rather quickly. My 18 Crusader doesn't tank any better than my bruiser.

Aye... Mesmashu is incorrect.

Any subclass that came from the Fighter Archetype is a tank.

"But..." No, stop right there. You're wrong. Anything from the Fighter Archetype is a tank.

As a monk, I would think AGI would be important since avoiding damage, as well as kicking butt, is what you do. However, I know as far as the Warrior line that STR governs Power (and of course, attack).

I would think that your primary focus would be AGI to avoid damage and then STR to buff up your power and attack (if STR really does govern power for Monks/Bruisers). However, from what I heard, a Shaman is a great class to team up with a Monk for its wards. So your strategy might change?

Or listen to Cardiak... hehehe
