Graphic Cards UpgradeFollow

#1 Dec 25 2004 at 10:01 PM Rating: Decent
Hi, I've got a 64mb graphic card that works with directx9 and all....but, I noticed the recommended is 128mb. How much of a difference will the upgrade make? Is it worth it or can I get by pretty well without it? Thanks guys

Don't play this game with a 64.. 128 would handle it fine.. depending on what you get.

I'm playing on a 64 meg video card, and it isn't pretty. The game needs restarting every few hours so that things don't get too bogged down. I'm soon upgrading to an X800 Pro (quadruple the vram!) and putting in another 512 megs of memory into the ol' crapbox, which hopefully will greatly improve performance and visual splendor.

The thing that is bogging down your PC is not your video ram its your system ram. When I started I was playing on 512mb system ram and a 64mb geforce 3 :( Yes the original Geforce 3. Not even a TI anything, just to give you and idea how old this thing is. Even at extreme performance, the game was practically unplayable in town unless I rebooted every other time I zoned. Upgrading to 1.25gb of Ram I no longer have to reboot at all, but because of the crappy video card I still can't move beyond extreme performance or my fps nosedives.

Fortunately, I will be upgrading to at least a stock 6800 as soon as I find a reasonably good deal, like the compusa one I missed a couple weeks back. Till then its more sucky graphics for me.
