I have a coercer, but just made 20th level. Here is my take for you.

EQlive and EQ2 are complete different beasts. Leave most of what you expect away from EQ2.

For the coercer (and illusionist too)
KEI no longer exsists. Clarity spells are now 3 minute duration with a 17ish second recast and they are single target spells. It is VERY annoying, but it is useful. The coercer does get a group version at level 48. You will tire of casting it even if you only put it on people as they need it.

Haste is the same way, except coercers get the group version at level 20 where illusionsist never do. Same tiring here too. Most people dont realize its benefit anyway.

Mez now has an 8 second refresh with 2 second cast. for about 45 levels you will only have one mez to work with. You do however get some nice stuns/stifles/roots to work with. CC isnt to hard, but really isnt all the needed in the vast majority of the game.

Overall the enchanters are fun to play and very verstile. DPS isnt to shabby, but it is so far removed from the EQlive enchanter you may find yourself wanting more if you expect KEI/Haste/Mez marathon of EQ.

Level 67 Enchanter EQ1...
Level 26 Coercer EQ2...

Pretty much what he said except to add
Illusionist get more illusions than Coercers do but we still get a few

Lvl 22 Coercer... One thing the first replier is forgetting is that when u hit lvl 22, u get the Mezz spell, but u will still have Fascinate, which is the same creature as Mezz and just as effective from what I've seen. I don't how effective it will be in the 30s, but u will have double Mezzing abilities in the 20s basically. Plus u get a spell called Daunting Gaze early on too, which stuns the mob for about 10 seconds while yur boyz are beatin on it. So Mezz any extra mobs and assist yur boyz by castin yur three DOTs, then daze the bugger that they are attackin. Then go back to yur Mezzing duties...EASY MONEY!! and Daunting Gaze is purty too!! LOL

The 1st mezz stops working at about level 25 or 26 mobs (app3 version at least)

Adept1 version of Daunting Gaze works on level 30 mobs but not level 33 mobs. Not sure about levels 31 or 32.

Stupify our 2 sec stun adept1 is still working on level 33 mobs.

At least I was able to mexx level 33 mobs while still level 26.

(Visited Enchanted Lands last night for 1st time =D)

One reason I chose Coercer over Illusionist is the Beguile spell at level 37.6. Can any higher level Coercers let me know how well this spell charms mobs? What's the duration? Does it help with solo encounters? Is it anything close to Dire Charm from EQ1? Thanks for the info.

Careful, I've read that most people are disappointed in the charm. I don't know any more than that - but go in game do /who coercer 37 50 - get names - nicely ask them how they like the spell and what it does ---- if you can't find a good descr. on line.

I'm pretty sure it is hardly a dire charm.
