The difference between Warrior and Guardian!Follow

#1 Dec 24 2004 at 11:57 AM Rating: Default
For those wondering, I just dinged lvl 20 guardian a couple days ago. And all I can say is WOW! My mangle (Adept I) that hit for 30-40 as a warrior, now hits for 80-90 (90 mostly). My ac went from somewhere around I think 400. to now, 1,100! But I guess I kinda lucked out on that (Had a master spell drop for me, bought all my shiny new armor. The shield that I got from completing the easy guardian subclass quest, is a GREAT addition with it's 200 or so ac. I had to go 1handed again, but I just purchased a cheapy shadowblade of zeal, and I'm good to go again. Anyways, you won't believe the difference in the amount of damage you can deal, and the amount of abuse that you can take. Good luck!

(The fun spells are lame though.... but I guess it's kinda a must have just because.)

I dont have all the time in the world to play. I'm surrently a 16 high elf Druid. But i play on playing 2 characters, especially since druid is extremely cheap to play. I literally quested EVERYthing i have on, and none of it is outdated. Anyway, the purpose of this reply is, I plan to make a Fighter~>Warrior, but MAN! That armor looks expensive. The loot~>sell rate is awful and i never seem to have more than 40-45 SP on me. How do you make all the money nessasary for all that expensive armor :(

The loot at higher levels sell for enough, imo, to buy the armor necessary. Also get your tradeskill up above 21 and earn 1gp 44sp per workshop task you complete.

I was ******** about armor prices also so I just made my own. But I can't make Carbonite Plate or Carbonite Chain for much under 30s my cost with all the items I have to buy from others. Best way to get some money is through a tradeskill.

The armor quests you get at level 20 also help but are kind of hard to do unless you have some plate armor already, kind of ironic.

I dinged 20 and had a whole suit of heavy armor and felt like a new man, I swear it almost doubled my ac over the pristine iron chainmail I had before.

As for the tradeskill wholesaler, make these items quest, they absolutely suck for an armorsmith on my tier. My 20+ items are all carbonite plate and chain so I sell 10 pieces of carbonite armor for 1g 22s that really nibble and chews my *** when it costs 3 times as much to make them.

Actually. It was very easy to afford my gear. I have a full suit of Pristine Vanguard on. When you're a warrior, you don't HAVE to worry about buying adepts, all that crap. By the time I hit 20, I had enough loot to sell that I had 2 gold. Then, a master spell dropped and I won it. Sold that for 2 gold to a guildy. Most pieces of vanguard are 50-60 silver (I found most of mine for 40)

Indeed, it's not _that_ hard to make coin to buy the armor you need. I got my coin from wholesaler tasks, quests and loot drops. Had I not made stupid decisions, I would have a bit more coin saved up (I bought a full set of plate armor then decided I wanted vanguard armor ><). Of course, I solo most of my time so I get 100% of the drops and since I level slowly, by the time I get to the level I need to upgarde I have enough coin to purchase at least half of the equipment.

I haven't spent much on upgrading all my skills either. Mainly the ones I use a lot. Quite a few are still AppII on my 21 Guardian.

But he's on ice for a bit... now I'm levelling a half-elf, same path (he might go berserker if he can build more muscle). I've twinked him a bit since I had coin from my other character, I was able to buy some crafted armor from the get go when my half-elf made warrior. I guess that's cheating... *shrug*

To get back on topic... not only do your skills get better, but the beasties hit harder too. :P

Sound a lot like me, I too am a 21 guardian. I bought duplicates of pristine vanguard on accident and gave those away lol. Yea, I only have adepts for the skills I like (mangle). And I twink my toons =D
