Question about specular lightingFollow

Hi all, last night my warrior became guardian and I put on a full suit of forged carbonite vanguard, when I realized that the texture quality is quite terrible even on max. So I experiment a little with the options and found specular lighting, wow.. what a big difference. I noticed a LITTLE lag after that, but this morning, there's no lag at all. This leads me to believe that it's not my comp (Radeon 9800 256 meg), but maybe the latency of the server? Or the crowdiness of the zone? Anyways, is it worth it?

if you can run it, good, if not ... well then don't. Spec Lighting makes things reflective and metallic looking. I would suggest turning it off in raids, or in very crowded areas.

You might also not notice any effect if you have your detail set lower, or the numbert of high quality models you have set.

If you have it set to only render your character in high detail then I would use spec lighting, might as well go all out if it's just you that you are worried about.

Yea.. don't really see my teammates.. just the mobs. SO just change the "Number of high detail characters" to 1? What does that make the others look like if they aren't high detail? Anyways, yea it plays fine with it on, but I haven't been grouped yet.

Edit: yay my 333rd post.

All I can say is...specular lighting makes the game beautiful. My Iksar has shine on his scales and armor looks more real.

If you can run with it, run with it. Try tweeking down some other stuff, like complex shader distance, try taking that down. Take down max high detail charries a little, and rendering distance. Stuff like that. Just play with it until you find a setting you're happy with.

Think I've found one. I made the number of specular lights to two. If you go above two you don't notice a difference. But man, my guardian looks so badass.
