I'm wonderin if anyone knows if there are xp bonuses for certain races and or classes? I have a DE shamman who is flying and it's made me curious. I ask this for a few reasons.

First, I was lvl 10 2 days ago and am 18 now while only playing about 4 hours a day. I also have a 21 Euridite necro and it took me at least twice as long to go from 10 to 18.

Second, I was grouped with a DE Crusader today and we started with me 20% xp behind him. He grinded for 5 hours straight today while I took 2 30 minute breaks. The only times we died was when we were together and there was no debt to start with on either side. I finished the night 20% xp ahead of him. Any ideas on how that worked out?

It's certainly possible but I've no hard evidence to back it up this is just one instance I've heard off. Although I nearly leveled twice in one group and everyone else barely leveled but I just took this in to account the fact I was 2 levels lower to begin with.

Well Monday night was part of the xp bonus. However they finished that on Tuesday morning and I didn't get to play till Tuesday night. I think I went from 10-13 on Monday night during the bonus time. It still doesn't explain how I was moving so much faster than the crusader while grouped with him.

Oh and don't think this is a complaint or anything! I love my xp bar flying across the screen.

Funny this comes up. I have a buddy in my Guild. He was in party and was about 22% ahead of another guy his same level. The other guy ended up leveling before him. They had not deaths in this leveling session, neither started with XP debt, and it was after the XP bonus.

I've also heard a few others ask this question in OOC. Strange.

GreyGhost,

What races and classes were the two characters if you know? Best I can figure is that if there is a bonus its class bassed. The crusader and myself are both DE so it can't be racial. Maybe they figured they didn't have enough evil healers so they gave us an xp bonus to try and catch up? Still tryin to figure it out.

maybe the betrayal quest? Did one do it and one not?

It might have exp penalties.. or bonus?

If there is a penalty for changing alignment, it's going to really suck at higher lvls.

nope. no betrayel quest. We are both dark elf freeport citizens. At least I now know I'm not imagining this though.

It could be that there is exp bonus / negative Warriors alway have higher bonuses in EQ1 mainly cause soloing was damn hard for them but they annoucned it in the book you go with the game if I remember right it told you wwho level fastest.

Could this be a INT thing ? does INT affect how fast to level it does or used to have and effect on the learning of skills does int= +exp there could be a number of factors until someone at SOE comes out and says yes 50% to this -45% to that we'll never know.

not mention how they keep turning xp bonus on, off and changing stuff.

Be hard set up series of test to try find out either any time soon. Long as xp doesn't start flowing backwards... be happy with what you got i guess ;)

Actually my room mate and I made characters in unison. I made a darkelf warrior and he made a ratongan scout. We played grouped the entire time and did the same quests. I outleveled him by two levels. Something fishy was definately going on. We played for about 6 hours straight and the only quests we did not do in unison were the instanced zones for our citizenship and archtype hallmark quests.

Thanks for everyones responses. Like I said before at least I'm not the only one who has experienced this. That crusader joined the guild I'm in ane we have grouped several times since we pretty play at the same times. We have seen this xp thing 4 times now between the two of us. I can honestly, without a doubt, say that a DE Shamman gains experience a little faster than a DE Crusader. I think it might be in the neighborhood of a 8-12% gap between the two but I would need a lot more time to really determine the actual percentage.

I had this happen along with me and my husband. We're still trying to figure it out. There is a forum thread about this going on on the official EQ2 site and people can not find one common reason why some people level up faster then others. There is a question of if it has to do with the amount of damage done to the mob per person. If this is found to be true, I know many people who will be upset. As of yet, though, there is no answer from Sony

anyone explore the HO thread?

I mean maybe doing Ho's in combat can give some xp boost? And people who did not or could not participate in the HO.. don't get the bonus?

Seems most common thing groups do.. that could differ two same people.

It might not even be all Ho's but just one the random (albiet less common) options?

I'll throw something out here: maybe the person to get the final blow gets extra experience. Not a whole lot to base that on, except that my wizard's experience seems to creep a lot faster when I'm the only nuker and get that last hit. I now make it a point to try for the final blast anytime I'm grouped.
