Anyone use these servers? If so, what do you think of them? I am kinda getting tired of all the lame discussions over /ooc... so I was thinking of making a character on the roleplaying servers...

Thanks ^_^

You'll still encounter lame conversation on OOC. Many players insist that OOC is the channel where they can say whatever they want whenever they want. It's frustrating.

Anyway, as I mentioned in a thread below, Antonia Bayle and Lucan D'Lere are both good servers. AB has a much higher load and more lag issues than Lucan, but you'll find roleplayers and roleplay guilds on both.

I'm on Lucan D'Lere, as is my boyfriend, and we love the RP servers...I find that there's a good mix of RP and non-RP going on, which to me makes things interesting. Plus, the way we play, you can't always tell which we're doing, playing our char or just talking. There's a couple of people we talk about IRL stuff with, as well, but usually in /tell. Of course, no matter what server you're on, there's going to be all manner of inane chat across the zone in in /ooc and /shout, but hey, some of it's funny, the rest can be ignored.

Haven't tried out the other servers, Lucan's our choice.

A roleplaying server is a server in which it is expected for characters to roleplay, rather than just run through it like it is a game. Yes, you can put up your RP flag on any server, but having servers that are "dedicated" RP servers gives those of us that like RP a place to congregate(SP?) and serves as a notice to those that do not like RP to stay away. I am an RP'er and I love having servers that are RP servers. Yes, there are still those that go through the game using 1337-speak and internet acronyms like lol, etc., but it is seen less than on a non-RP server.

I liked the idea of RP servers and made characters on both AB and LD. I prefer LD, it appears to be more populated for some reason. On AB it was myself and maybe two other people on the newbie island, same for Freeport. I just got off from a session with my rogue in LD, saw a lot of folks running about. I didn't really talk to anyone except to ask for directions, but at least there are people to converse with should the urge arise. So far I'm enjoying the game despite my PC struggling with it, I just can't wait to get more memory and a new video card for an optimal playing experience.

I play one toon On Lucan, and I don't notice any difference between it and a non-RP server. And ooc will continue to frustrate many of us because it is probably 999th on SOE's list of things to do; enforce channel talk.
