I've ben searching everywhere I can think of, and still have not found out what these are for... anyone have any idea? I was thinking maybe some craftsman recipe...
I don't want to get rid of them if someone I know can get the advanced book and use them.

Blackened iron ingot is a bi product after making a blackened iron bar.Blackened iron ore is a rare tier 2 harvest.Not sure on uses for it as of yet

Yeah, I have like 20 of them in my bank, and they don't stack...so I kind of wanted to get rid of them, but not if they were used for some recipe...I'd rather give them to a guildie than sell em off.
but I see them for sale on the broker every now and then, so I thought maybe there was some recipe to use them for something. They did something similar with the maple lumber, when you refine it, you get scraps as a by-product. but they are used in a recipe by craftsmen... tooled maple i believe. So it seemed logical that since it is from a rare harvest, that it will be a dropped Tier 2 recipe book that uses them.

There is an advanced outfitters book 11 that tells how to convert blackened iron into bars and edges. Then there is a L14 and 17 book to make weapons. With the bars and edges, you can make blackened iron stilettos which are the cream of the crop for L12-20 rogues and predators. If you have the blackened iron, get your outfitter to L17 or sell them to one who has already gotten the skill and recipe books. I have been harvesting in Commonlands over and over to get the blackened iron from the wind swept rocks but I haven't see one yet. If you have 20, all I can say is wow.

I tried re-refining them into bars, no joy. None of the blackened Iron recepies that I have use them either.
I suspect they may be for a rare odd-ball item but I have not found any indication of this yet.
Most of the byproducts (loam and scraps) have a use, so I am assuming the Ingots do as well.

yeah that was my thought... but like i said earlier, since only looted recipe books can be used for rare harvests, i think it is probably a looted recipe book that uses the by-products too... oh well, the search goes on :)
then again, maybe they put them in so you can sell them to a vendor and recoup some of your losses for buying the cluster in the first place hehe
