Ya... im just using mariners defense because i cant use tower shields, round shields are horrible def and my kite shield is only at 108 as a level 21 SK. i would like to get a better shield but the only alternative i hate is to get an Ash kite shield which has 2.5x the AC but im gonna have to wait several levels.
IS there any quests i can do in freeport to get a better kite shield? the AC on the mariners is 55 or something... any suggestions would be dandy.

i've yet to see a decent quest for a good shield......my best advice is to buy player made, i know it sucks if your trying to quest all your gear but as far as shields go you should have a really good one due to the much added ac it gives.

Mariner's Defense lasted my sk well into his 20's. Once your able to, get a group and kill Paddlefoot in Nek for a "Waterlogged Kite Shield" It's an excellent upgrade with decent stats/ac.

Best shield ive seen that us SK can use at mid 20s is the Water logged Kite shield its a drop off the named Beaver in Nek Paddlefoot i think his name is. Has a 200+ Def and tons of stats.

I got a quest from a drop in Antonica for an Ancient Kite Shield and also have seen them for sale. I am 26 and still use it, it has 254 defense and a lot of stats. Haven't seen much better.
I have been using a Conditioned Ash Kite Shield, check my profile (link below). Before that I just used the Mariners Defense.
