Reward for Wholesaler tasksFollow

#1 Dec 21 2004 at 6:52 PM Rating: Decent
I know that tier 1 reward is 3s, tier 2 is 12s..

I just hit level 20 so now I'm being given tier 3 tasks, so I'm wondering what the reward is for tier 3 and higher? Anyone know?

Anyone can do Wholesaler tasks, you just need to join the Wholesaler society in your suburb.

I think they're going to nerf the payouts though, maybe in the next patch.

I don't think they are going to nerf the payout, but rather change the way you recieve credit for the task. Previously, you were able to get credit from purchasing the resources from the broker, then turning right around and finishing the quest with your wholesaler. I suspect they realized that this might have been a balance issue.

I just got my first Tier 3 wholesaler task.
Tis a pity I can't harvest in the Tier 3 areas yet. Hehe. Can't wait until I can though, looks like I'm going to have to go out and harvest my *** off when the servers come back online. =D

To get a tier 3 wholesaler task you have join your second society based on what path you take as an artisan. You can do this from the guy in Qeynos Harbor near where the carpenters are. Once you join you can start doing wholesaler tasks.

The second society gives you quests called "workshop tasks" instead of the "wholesaler tasks" that you get from your wholesaler ;) All the tasks that I have done have been "Make 10 (insert finish item) and give them all to us" for which I have received 36 silver... usually just the components for these run about 1 gold if Im making some of them (make my own ink, buy quills and paper). Ouch.

No, sorry mate, this is not correct. All Wholesaler tasks come from the very first Wholesaler Society you join regardless of what level they are. There's one in each suburb.

The second Society you join, at level 10, is a Workshop, there are 3 in each suburb, for Craftsmen, Scholars and Outfitters.

So you will end up belonging to 2 Societies, a Wholesaler and a Workshop, and they both give tasks that have cash rewards.

You would get the task from the guy in your Wholesaler Society but to harvest the stuff in Tier 3 zones you need your harvesting etc to be 90+.

i think the pay outs are pretty bogus i can get more $$$ selling on broker for instance they give you 12 sp for 15 electrum when you can easily be getting 15 sp for selling on broker...just my opinion

dirky-

I'm not going to tell you you're wrong because you aren't- at least not in every instance.

What I mean by that is prices of Tier 2 harvested resources haven't even come close to stabilizing yet and they can be all over the place. Within a couple of hours, I've seen electrum cluster prices go from 60cp to 30cp and back up to 70cp. I've seen iron clusters sell out at 55cp and not sell at all at 10cp. And let's not even discuss rares- I've seen 50gp listed as the price people want (I think they're just bragging that they actually have rares) and I've tried to sell one that I harvested for 6gp and got no takers.

For you to make a better profit selling to players than turning them in to your Taskmaster means that you have to be able to get 80cp or more for your resource- not impossible, but not real likely either (that's 12sp divided by the 15 resources you are tasked to harvest). If you're getting 1sp per electrum on a regular basis, I'm moving to your server immediately >grin<.

I hope its not a payout nerf. 12s for 15 tubers is generating a decent profit for me.

edit: grammar

dirkyJ if you do the tasks, you are also upgrading your Society which unlocks higher level goods to buy from the merchant in there. The reason most people are still doing all their crafting in the Wholesaler instead of their Workshop is because they can buy more ingredients from that merchant.
