Path of the Warlock questFollow

I chose the path of the warlock at the mage tower in South Qeynos. I could not find any information about the quest in the forums, so I just went in and did it. It involved getting some ritual stones from a gnoll chanter, diviner and oracle in Blackburrow, and then to follow up with an instanced fight against 4 elementals, the last to be a large earth elemental. I succeeded in the quest, became a warlock, and was very happy. Later I read about the Path of the Illusionist quest on a forum, and it was the same quest!!!! They described everything that I did in exact detail. Should warlocks and illusionists do the same quest to follow two different paths? Oddly enough, one would think that it would be summoners who would fight elementals for their path quest, not enchanters or sorcerers. Who knows, maybe their quest is the same also??

WARNING - THIS IS A SPOILER

All of the Mage classes do get the same quest. I used the "Illusionist" guide to get me through the path of the warlock and it worked just fine.

I would like to post here to help out many of you with your quest. I had a very hard time only because I couldn't find good information and because the quest is meant to be done a certain way.

First off is colleting the 3 runes. You must kill an Oracle, Diviner and Enchanter (all Bloodsabre). If you are familiar with Black Burror there are these mobs deeper in the caves. They are yellow ^^ to a level 19. So obviously not soloable (at least for my warlockwannabe)

So the easy way to do it you ask? Go to the back side of blackburrow (the log entrance). At the two islands leading up there are log bridges. If you start on the lower island and run up the bridge, two mobs will spawn. They were Blue one down arrow for me so I easily blew them to smithereens. Ding. Diviners dead.

Keep running toward BB rear entrance and you will cross another log and two whites spawn. Ding. Oracles dead. Last jump off the bridge into the water and swim to shore near where Sir Jeagers camp is. Run up the little gully there like you are going to go to BB and on the right and left spawn our little friends the Enchanters. Kill them and your quest first part is done.

Run back to South Qeynos and talk to the mage in the library again. She will then port you to an instanced zone where you will proceed to soil your robes. Dont sweat it. I was told by a guild member that they directly attacked the Red ^^^ earth elemental and after some time were able to defeat it. I tried it myself and ran oom and didn't dent their health but they also didn't hurt me so I'm sure you can take the time to med and eventually (probably after a couple hours) take him down the hard way.

Now there is a much easier way. IF you run up to the portals and zone through you will come upon an Earth, Wind and Fire elemental. I noticed that the fire elemental took me down much faster when I was in attack mode, so it may be smart to just nuke him and be done with it. As each elemental is killed that ginormous earth elemental will become easier. Once all three of the others are dead pay a visit to the earth elemental who is now white and show him the meaning of pain.

NOTE: If you do decide to just kill the earth elemental DO NOT turn on autoattack. He will riposte and hit you for 810. Second he should not attack you if you do this route.

If you do the "easy" method and kill the other elementals the earth elemental will attack you so just be ready. Make sure to use your HO's as they will save your ***** and be fully buffed beause the fight is not as easy as they say.

Feel free to add or take away from this guide, as it is just the observations from my eyes. I only did the quest once and things may not work the same for everyone but it seems to fit with the people I've talked too.

As a summoner, my quest was also the same. However instead of actually going into B.B., I slayed the gnolls outside. If you run through the valley below the entrance of B.B., all of the three gnolls you need will spawn as you run past an area in which they pop. In about fifteen minutes and a bunch of running in circles, literaly, I had all 3 runes. The gnolls that spawned were blue to me and I was lvl. 18 at the time. It can easily be done with two people.

I didn't bother zoning into BB either. I fought them on the islands off of the south coast. They pop on the log bridges.

I did it solo, but later helped other mages in my guild do the quest. It was a bit rough solo, but not so bad with a duo.

I spent 4 hours trying to do this in BB. Its very frustrating. The areas in the caves where these spawn are heavily camped. I suggest finding the mobs outside of BB like previously posted. An alternate would be what I did here; I have a friend who is a lvl 26 wiz. We just nuked them all. Saves the trouble of idiot group members bestowing debt upon your struggling career. :) I didn't get any exp, but I was very happy to have it over with.

Not sure if Im reading this correctly or not. Does this quest allow a Qeynos Sorcerer to become a Warlock and remain alligned with Qeynos? I started a High Elf Sorc and decided I wanted to be a Warlock, since I was only level 15 I decided to just make a Dark Elf instead but all my friends are over in Qeynos.

I'd like to continue on with the High Elf if its possible.
