so tell me about Shaman?Follow

just posing a question to the shaman players out there.. I'm pretty familiar with Cleric.. and a friend is a Druid.. so I know a fair amount about those...

but what about Shaman and Mystic.. the eq2 main site is vague about them, so I figured I'd ask. What do you think about Shaman, how do you feel it works as opposed to druid and cleric? What about Mystic? anywho.. vague questions.. so I'll be quite happy with a general idea..

thanks in advance.

i have never played a cleric or druid but what I gather is
shamans WARDS stop dmg from even happening
clerics get the best DD heal
Druids get reactive heals(tho not entirly sure)
the wards I have are pretty nice I can usually keep them going so tank almost never takes dmg.

Shaman seem get alot of group buff and debuff, dmg prevention and the like. Ofcourse all shaman types have some healing abilities

Mystiks specialy have wards raise defense.. and if the player gets hit procs a healing effect.

Also get a few DoTs here and there.

Defilers seem specialy more on group debuff and some buffs, wards that when hit the attacker takes dmg, and that dmg is added to the attacked players life.

Shaman used be the undisputed masters of buffs before in EQ1.. but have to see how strong they are now. Sow is alot slower.. so i'm not sure how long or how powerful higher lvl spells are either.

I have a Lvl 17 Barbarian Shaman and I love it! Out of all the alts I have he's the best solo'er (Crusader, Summoner, Monk, Warrior)The wards are awesome, and the Slows, and dots and weakening debuffs make solo'ing much easier.

Myself and an 18 Warrior paired up and camped crows in the N. Fields with no problem, fights got ugly sometimes but we had no deaths and got some killer XP.

Among other spells, Shammy's get a Phantasm Spell that confuses npc's to get agro off them, it's an AoE spell, so in tight situations when all seems lost, you can cast this and run! run! run! But works well in groups too if you get agro.

SoW is not as fast as in EQ1, but it's effect seems to get better with higher levels, and it's the only buff that lasts outside the group if the Shaman leaves group or dies, which can come in handy for those dresswearers to kick up their heels and run!

Overall, I would say Shaman are a very well round Class, and it was said during beta that they we're. I can't comfirm this because I haven't played a Druid yet, but I did have a cleric in beta, and my shaman is much easier to play, and frankly more fun IMHO. So don't no Clerics go flaming me, because thats just my play style, I'm sure there are clerics that feel their Class is awesome as well.

Haven't made it to Mystic yet, so I don't have a lot of info on them, but will post again when I do.

And for all you Priest classes that can swing a G. Hammer, here's a link to the weapon I use, and it works very well for me, as I'm not big on 2hnd'ers. I like my 1hnd'ers and bucklers

I have a 15 DE shammy that i really just started playing. I the ability the wards bring to absorb damage. The buffs are ok and SoW is very nice when you need to run. That AoE fear is real nice to and has saved my butt a few times. Of course, when it saves my butt it usually means it saves the groups to because i can concentrate on keeping them alive.

Soloing is a different story. I also have a 21 necro who solo's at least 10 times better than my shamman. With my necro i can take white and yellows until im blue in the face without ever having to stop. With the shamman a white con leaves me low on power at the end of the fight which means i have to rest awhile.

In groups as the main healer i use wards a lot to start the fights and then go to heals to finish them. As a secondary healer a group ward can give the cleric time to catch up or the druid regens time to do their work. With 2 nukes, a DoT, and 2 debuffs at this point I have enough offensive capability to hurt mobs fast and ensure they don't hurt the tanks.

I like the shammy a lot. I have a ton more stuff to do in a group than I do with my necro. It keeps things interesting where as with the necro i just kinda sit back, send in the pet, and cast DoT's and nukes. The bigges thing with the necro is making sure I assist. With the Shamman it's making sure I cast the right spell, at the right time, on the right player or mob. Takes a little more concentration.

As you can see from my signature I am a 33rd defiler. The Shaman class offers a lot if you learn how to use it. Wards are great, especially if you either have a brawler tanking or need to save the mages and scouts.

Your debuffs are second to none, and contrary to what the poster before me said you are an amazing soloer. I can handle red mobs solo with very little difficulty (up to 5 levels higher than me). I typically stick to whites and yellows when soloing though, as I can take at least two on one bar of power without resting.

We make great primary healers (I do it all the time, and have since early levels), but if there is another healer can pour on the debuffs and DoTs. At 33rd level I can stack 3 DOTs at once, and dump 3 more debuffs totally crippling a mob.

I also love the group ward. It saves lives when you get swarmed, because it doesn't matter who gets hit...they are all protected.
