Possible EQ GlitchFollow

Ever since coming back from the day long patch, my EQ has been randomly shutting down. At first it was about once or twice a day, but now its hitting about 1 or twice an hour and its very aggrivating when in groups.

Anyone else have any problems like this since then?

Twice now since the patch, I have crashed to desktop while zoneing. Noticed no problems prior to crash such as lag.

Its up to about 3-5 times an hour now and si making playing difficult, and grouping impossible.

I added a new stick of ram the other day too, but I just don't knwo why that would cause this.

could be a bad stick of ram.. bad ram can and will cause crashes and other strange behavior.

download memtest86, you can get it for either a floppy or a cdr, boot the system with that disk in and it will run a test on your RAM. Takes about 10 to 15 mins to do a complete pass. if you get errors, test the sticks one at a time to see which one is bad.

Ive been crashing a lot while zoning for a long time now. Switching between window mode seems to fix it.

I had this problem too. I fixed it by slowing down the CPU clock a little in the BIOS. Yes, you lose a few MhZ of CPU spped, but the game was much more stable. Haven't had a crash since. Performance wasn't really affected, and I the processor went from 2500 MhZ to 2100 Mhz.

Open your case, check your fan to make sure it is spinning. If it is rattling or not spinning fast replace it. While holding the case frame, touch the side of the heatsink(not the fan). If it is so hot you cannot stand to hold your hand on it, the heatsink is too small, or clogged up with lint/dirt etc.

I have to remove my Heatink and fan from the case, remove the 4 screws attaching the fan and heatsink together. I run warm water thru the fins and clean out every bit of the lint. I re-attach the fan and re-install it onto the motherboard. This has solved the problem of overheating CPU and crashing in EQ1 and now in EQ2.

If you are not competent in working with PC's have a friend help or take it to a repair shop. You can permanently damage the CPU if you fail to plug the fan into power, shock the CPU with ESD, or impropperly mount the heatsink to the CPU.

Also you can do the same with compressed air can if you can find one at a computer store. You dont have to remove anything.

Hope this helps.
