i`ve seen the odd person with a hotkey that gives a message for their HO trigger... i was curious as to how to make a hotkey that would do that or would do a message + cast a heal. thanks

There is a waay to do that by writing your macro:

/: ; useability [name] ; useability [name]

but this is supposed to change after they get the patch right, then we will have 3 lines available to write commands/emotes/chat.

I thought we couldn't put abilities into the macro?? Have you confirmed this works? I am going to test it tonight, but everything I read on macros said we couldn't trigger abilities from the macro.

yes the Use Ability command does work for spells (even though SoE says it wont)

With the 3 lines I really only use 2 but it works like this.

/useability healing ritual

/g Healing %t

Just gotta make sure you spell the ability correctly.

Smiley: confused I'm not too clear on this. Is this for ONE macro or two? And is it /useability "healing ritual" where you type in a specific ability after the word useability or do you literally type it in as shown above?
It would be helpful if someone clarified to me how you do this with an example typed or something so I know what I'm supposed to do, if it's not too much trouble Smiley: blush

Currently I just do my healing in group and don't tell anybody what I'm doing, I just do it. I was thinking maybe I should do a macro or two to for the benefit of letting the group know exactly what I'm doing.

Thanks!

My advice is to never add any battle spam. If you want, you can move your main battle chat window right underneath the group window but I find it easier to just look at the window and to have a separate window for spells going off or on.

This isn't FFXI with a SINGLE fixed window with a max of 8 lines but the less spam the better. I use macros for things like 'Priest is casting Group Ward and then running away. You'd better run to!' or 'Wizard EVAC in 5..... 4...... 3.... GET HERE NOW!'

Or my fav :) "Mezzing %t, spank it and you tank it!"

Things like 'useability Minor Arch Healing' followed by '/g By the hair of Tunare's pet gnoll! I heal you, %t. Praise Tunare!' is funny the first few times but it gets ANNOYING... FAST.

Use the below macro to set up you main healing.
/target_group_member #1
/useability (your healing spell)
/gsay healing %T in a few seconds

/target_group_member #2
/useability (your healing spell)
/gsay healing %T in a few seconds
You set these up on your 1st 5 keys and you are set. I hope this was helpful.
