Really? This isn't the first time one of their online games has gone down for a long period. There was a two-day downtime with Everquest 1.
I 24 downtime in 5 1/2 years oh my god!!!111ONEONE!11!!!one!!!56!!!?~~'#.

how the **** do you generate enough IQ to manage to get out of the F*cking bed in a morning you MORON!

So instead of getting in some sort of multiple redundancy setup to stop this happening again, to the point where even if 8 of their servers had a hardware failure (EIGHT, for fsck's sake - how the fsck do EIGHT separate servers all fail at once?), they could continue online, they just have primary servers and the sh*t hits the fan.
How do you know 8 servers when down? i know how YOU DON'T, it is just as likly the link server went down and that would ***** the entire game up, or maybe just maybe they had a virus infection and they do not want to bring servers up untill it is quarrentined.

Would you publise that? Well you might since your IQ is below that of the average Marcupial but those of us who have passed out of school wouldn't untill they had isolated the source and arrested the motherf*cker who did it. ,
Quote:
sh*t happens? Stretching the limits of probability here, aren't you? Two downtimes larger than 24 hours, one of them involving eight separate hardware failures all at the same time?
Yes Sh*t happens, once you are mature enough you will realise that and stop acting like a F*cking *****.

Do the EQ2 world a favour, cancel your account both with SoE and Here and never post bullsh*t like that again.

K Tnks.

Dave let me remind you, FFXI was there for a year before the NA launch so the game is not "new" as you say. Look at WoW's launch. It was a disaster and IMO one day down time is far better than the lag and queue.

One day downtime? Going on 3 days for me now.

I would also like to point out that FFXI has indeed had lengthy and unscheduled downtime. I distinctly recall an 18 hour or so period of time where no one could log in at all. Every MMO has issues like this. No one is exempt.

From the log in, 3 free days and acc exp sounds good to me.Thanks SOE!

To Our Players 12/18/2004 8:30 pm

Hello Everyone,

We sincerely apologize for the downtime this weekend. We had some hardware issues that caused us to have to tread very carefully in bringing the game back up. We wanted to triple check everything to make sure there wouldn’t be any major problems, and it’s taken a while to both fix the problem (we had to fly out engineers from one of our hardware vendors) and to bring each of the servers back online because of the careful validation process we need to go through. We have to do this very carefully and we hope you can understand our desire to do this right. We're trying to balance that with getting the game back up as quickly as possible. So far most servers are back up and the rest should be up in the next 4-6 hours, hopefully less. I realize that ETA's that come and go can frustrate people, so we do our best to give you the most realistic estimates possible.

Out of respect for our players, we’re doing the following:

1) Every player will receive 3 free days.

2) Early this week (Monday or Tuesday) we will have a 24 hour period where we will have accelerated XP gain. Details are still being worked out and we’ll communicate this to you as we firm up the plans.

We are committed to providing you with excellent service. Our team has been here for over 40 hours straight, and I can tell you our dedication to doing right by our players is the thing that’s foremost on everyone’s mind here at SOE.

Thank You,

John Smedley

They actually said they're upping the accelerated exp gain time from 24 hours to 48 hours so we have from sunday morning to tuesday morning to grind out some levels hopefully with a noticeable acceleration.

The accelerated xp I don't really want. I just want to play the game the way it's designed to be played, that's what I'm paying for. Ya'll can bash me all you want for saying that, but it's the simple truth.

The servers went down, my server is STILL down, but I think the 3 free days to be plenty. I would rather they increase the drop rate of rares than accelerate xp. It's just a game, I love to play it, and I also know that any new release of any software is gonna have problems. Bought anything new from Microsoft lately? LOL

Got a patch from their live update yesterday that hosed my video for a while - thanks Microsoft. Anyway, point is, it's a new platform, they are doing what they need to do to fix it. I'm not "yea sony" but I do realize that the folks working to fix it are like me...they just wanna get the d@#n thing fixed and go home. If I'm pissed, it's at management for not being more forthcoming, but they aren't the ones that fix the stuff, just give the guys trying to fix it a hard time til it's fixed.

Anyway, thanks for listening...errr, reading. Bash away.

If everyone is so upset about the downtime, which seems like most of you are...just quit playing SOE games. Simple fix.

And that last post: in my direct support of SOE I will sit at my character selection screen with the msg "Servers Down" because I just got kicked again from the server. Just amazing really. Heh I dont want bonus exp, more money's, or any reward except to play the game I am paying for. Hell you can keep my 3 days of free playtime if you bring the server up................. /em starts wondering what SE is doing right now, and knows he can sell his wares without having to over stress his cpu everyday

I hope the next time you buy something and it's broke that you go back to the store and complain only to be told "Don't like it? Just stop shopping here" and show you the door.

Unfair comparison, what happened was.

You bought something and took it back to the store on Friday and they said: " Sorry about the inconveiniance, but we cannot replace this untill monday because the problem is very complecated and takes some time to fix"

" Please pop back in on monday and we will have and enhanced product for you and give you some of your money back"

You then cause a scene in the shop and the customer waiting behind you in the cue says " If you don't like it **** of and shop elsewhere"

You act like the anksty teenager you are, and throw a hissy fit.

OK, first of all... bringing my server back was only part of it. From the bugged quests to bugged player abilities to the bugged tradeskills to just generally bad design, there are more problems with this game than just downtime. This game has some serious flaws and all of you people whining about people whining can just suck it. I can't believe you don't think we have a right to demand they fix a broken product. I've spent money and plenty of time on this game, I think we deserve better.

And you sound like a SOE fanboy who's glad he got ripped off. Not all of us are so eager to take it in the *** without a fight.

Subvert do the world a favour and grow up, do you think any of the people working on the servers wanted to be in work on the last weekend befpre xmas?

Do you not think they have families that are far more important than you. How many people use the last weekend before xmas to do thier xmas shopping? A good % i would say, the Board of trade and Industry say it is the busiest weekend of the year.

But no even though they have put thier families to one side to fix a poxy computer game for a bunch of Geeks <Face it regardless of how cool you think you are, we are all geeks>

Have some F*cking compassion you piece of sh*t, you disgust me.

36 hours in a game that has been running for less than 2 months is not the end of the bloody world, like you seem to think it is, people are homeless, people are starving and yet your sole consern seem to be something as material as a computer game not working for a few days, Your mother must be really proud of you.

Read, inwardly digest and get some perspective.

You know the "ever-dissatisfied" really do need to go elsewhere. What perfect world do you live in where all goes right 100% of the time? No matter what Sony does you will never be happy, so please cut your (perceived) losses and move on. The fact that Sony didn't wait til Monday to fix the problem but worked through Saturday to do so isn't enough for you. You are also getting free time and accelerated xp -- but still you whine and cry. Try to realize Sony is not your daddy. Sony is a company. A company puts out products to make money. If you don't like those products don't patronize that company, buy somewhere else. Then the company won't make money from you and you don't have to be unhappy. Problem encountered, problem solved. MOVE ON!

To all you whiners that can't stop complaining about minor problems that SOE is working to fix daily, and to everyone moaning about the servers coming down for a few days as if it was the death of their child or something, I say "stop playing SOE games and go play sissy WOW, or a lame first person shooter or something, I could use the decrease in lag"

To Warlord:

Yes I admit this game has bugs, and so do all the games out there, but the bugs are FAR from making the game unplayable or unpleasent to me. You say you have 3 days downtime, now SOE is giving you 3 days free time back. If you're not satisfied, tell me what else you'd like SOE to compensate, be reasonable please. Also If the bugs really bother you that much, you do have a few options: 1) play the game and don't mind the bugs; 2) quit; 3) send your request to SOE and hope they'll listen to you; 4) sue them for releasing a bugged game like this. Complaining here takes you nowhere and would only trigger flame war. DO SOMETHING!

Dude,I play on DIAL UP and this is the smoothest MMO I have ever played. Kudos to SOE for making such an awesome game. Wait what it has bugs and problem....soo friggin what, name a game that doesn't, I'll happily play this over any other MMO!
If you don't like patches and can't handle when sh+t happens the quit and go somewhere else and bicth about that game instead!!!

Kudos to Tarv Of the Seven Sea. 5.0 rating for you. /golf clap.

I'm sick and damn tired of hearing people ***** like children about the downtime. **** happens, live with it. Servers do fail, no matter how many contingencies you have. And it takes TIME to restore those servers.

Oh wait, I forgot, the folks complaining think there's magic fairy dust to fix servers. That just about explains the retardedness of ******** on the message boards, because ya know, that fixes downtime.

Anyone want a little CHEESE with there WHINE????

Man I am glad you all never ever have computer problems! And if you do don't whine about them here after all it is YOUR problem not SOE or ours :)
