Why not Jump on Test ServerFollow

#1 Dec 18 2004 at 11:58 AM Rating: Decent
If you need your EQ2 fix, may I suggest trying to join the fun on Test server? You get 4 more character slots so you can create whatever you want. I've been playing there since this morning and I'm having a blast! I decided to try to play on the Good side for once since I've never seen Qeynos in EQ2. So, it's a whole new experience for me. The downside is that there seems to be a problem on test with Heroic Opportunities. When you use one, it crashes the zone and dumps all the players to the character select screen. (so don't use that HO if you go!)
Who knows? Maybe many will stay on the Test server as a main play server?

I should caution you to read the instructions in the readme file in the TestServer folder in the EverQuest II folder. IT explains what you need to do (some copy / paste of files/folders to the TestServer folder). Then be prepared for a 2-3 hr dload. After which, you are free to go slay Goblins on the Isle of Refuge. I look forward to seeing you there!

more like a 12 hour download for me :D

The download could take longer than normal due to the number of people deciding to connect to it. But, remember that you must copy all of fht files and folders mentioned in the testserver folder readme file. If you don't you might get stuck downloading more than you need to. Also, you need the spare drive space to play this as you'll be holding two full copies of Everquest II on your computer. (my EQ2 folders (production and test) take about 8.31 GB)

I didn't receive 4 more characters.... it takes me to the normal login screen and since I have 4 characters, I do not have the choice to make anymore.

Razira, You ARE running the TestEQ.exe file correct? When I did and completed the downloads, I was presented with a blank character select screen.

The official forums have confirmed that the 4 test characters are definitely seperate and in addition to your live characters, so not sure your problem :(

I followed the instructions on EQ2 live to copy certain files to a new folder and went from there with no problems

I'd check the official pages about the test launch.

Yes, I copied all the files that I was told to copy by SOE. My problem is dial up. Oh, and when I look at the character select thing at the top of launch pad, I have the 4 characters from the "live" servers, not blank ones.

Download = 23 minutes here.

The character select on the top of the launchpad is simply cached. Finish the download and connect to the test server before you decide that it is broken ;)

Well.. maybe if SOE would tell me how much longer til the live servers were up again.. then maybe I would finish my 12 hour download... :P

For those who are seeing their regular characters, you're sure you're using TestEQ2.exe? It's a red icon, as opposed to the blue one for regular EQ2.

and yeah, that HO bug is a *****, lol
