You didn't mention Freeport or Qeynos, so I'll include both:

No matter what level your warrior is, you'll be a "newb" artisan.

You can only harvest in newbie areas as these are the only items you can craft with until level 10 artisan. So, if in Qeynos, go harvesting in either Forest Ruins, Oakmyst Forest, The Caves, or The Peat Bog. If on Freeport side, go harvest in The Ruins, The Sunken City, The Sprawl, or The Graveyard.

OK, now you've got stuff to work with, you need to join a wholesaler. In Castleview (Qeynos) go talk to the guy outside of The Charter of the Truthbringer, then you can go in the door to the crafting area. In Big Bend (Freeport) do the same at The Ransacker's Annex. By the way, there is a wholesaler in most areas of the city, just using newbie areas for brevity.

Once inside the wholesaler, you will have access to everything you need. There is also a merchant called a wholesaler in each one from whom you will be basic supplies needed to craft - candles, sandpaper, filament, water, etc. This guy also sells you're recipe books (through level 9). Make a few things and you'll really level fast - doesn't matter what at this point.

At level 9/10 you have to go declare you class, then at level 10 you can move to a more specialist society that supports your specific class.

eq2.eqtraders.com has excellent beginner articles on this.
