Thursday was my birthday....

there really is a point to that I swear!

Thursday was my birthday and I got home pretty late and pretty drunk. Well, my vendor wasn't logged in and well, it really had nothing to sell so I thought "What the hell, I'll go do so harvesting/adventuring so I'll have some coin tomorrow!"

Well, playing and drinking are a bad mix. At one point, I died.

Then I died aagain in the same spot while trying to recover my shard.

Oh yeah, I died again, trying to recover my shard....

At one point I finally realized "You drunken fool, go the other way! Stop running right through those Dragoon Siths! They can break your invisibility!"

So I finally went the back way in to get my shards. By this point there were three of them all lying side by side. This time I made it (Thank Lucan!)

So the moral of this story is probably some fluff about drinking andf playing, but the real point is:

Thanks for the debt wipe SOE!

I was at 35% debt when the server went down ;)

I learned not to play drunk in eq1. I got my corpse stuck at the bottom of some dungeon on kunark and couldn't recover it. Granted I was only like lvl 15 at the time but I was really sad. I had to make a new character because I couldn't get any of my equipment and couldn't fight anything to make money for new equipment.

I tried to pass my lesson on to others but they didn't listen. My brother played drunk one night while we were around lvl 45 or so and he got lost zoning into a dungeon. Was actually kinda funny for me but he didn't think so when he died by falling into a lava pit. Again, he couldn't recover his corpse so we wound up having to buy him all new gear.

Gave that stuff up 18 years ago - and although life seems harder, I get stuff done, life is not harder - its more real and I don't wake up sick to my stomach and have a headache . . . unless I have the flu - which is much less often now that my body isn't broke down and vulnerable to viruss and bugs.

Now - I sat here at the puter drinking coffee - jumping from one section about EQII for over an hour then realized someone either had sex on the mainframe and overheated it or someone tipped their beer into it - in the process of foreplay . . .

I tried to play EQI . . . blah. I can't handle the washed out graphics, and the change in gameplay anymore . . . guess I will just cancel my suscription to EQI - no point in giving SOE more of my money than necessary.

(Wonder who sent SOE the virus?? - Not that they don't deserve it. But woulda been nice if someone bugged their other games and not EQII)

That's weird becuase Saturday we were planning this big Christmas party at my place, and I was hoping to show off my toon to some friends. Since the servers went SPLAT that didn't happen of course.

We did drink and it was fun. Thankfully nobody spilled on my PC or anything. Yikes. I did lose about 22$ playing poker though.

Ouch.

Someone actually wrote a guide to drinking while playing EQ a long time ago, was hilarious.
"Whenever a party member dies, take a shot."
"Whenever someone dings, take a shot."
"Whenever etc"
He had a long list of his drunken exploits on dragon raids all trashed. I dunno if I'd let someone drunk on my raid or not but hey, what can ya do.
