What are the good weapons to use and what should not be bothered with?

Pretty much everything works. Bare fists aren't very effective compared to weapons, but in EQ2 all weapons are essentially balanced.

Dual weilders have half the DPS of a two hander, and half the stat bonuses aswell. The flip side, of course, is that you can use 2 dual weilders, effectively making it a wash.

One handed weapons have the stats of a dual weilder, but the damage of a two hander, but 25% slower. The advantage being the abiltiy to use a shield for extra defence, armor class and a second stat item.

The upcomming update has listed them as planning on taking away the brawlers ability to use shields, but upping our deflection to compensate. Essentially attempting to give us the raw defense bonus of a shield, without having to use one.

Dunno what brawlers that use one handed weapons like myself are supposed to do. I guess switched to the dual weilders or two handers.

Most of those are horribly out of synch with my characters avatar, and look pretty bad. EQ2 only has 2 real fighting animations; 2 handed sword amd 1 handed sword. Those two weapons will always look ok, but most other weapons just don't fight quit right. Like 2 handed weapons you weild with both hands together, which works ok for a 2h sword, but not much else. Fist animation for me is the same as sword, only without the sword in my hand. So it looks like i'm holding something invisable, and hit them with my wrist. It's pretty bad. I've seen other character models that are alot better, but female half elves have smaller hands.

You know maybe I'm doing something wrong. I use Burlap Fist wraps currently. I am lvl 19 and I know these are getting old for my lvl. The problem I'm having is with the wraps my AC is around 298. If I equip the bo my AC drops down to about 190 something.

That's a pretty big difference. Also when I use a bo I miss alot. Which is odd since both my Fists and Staff are maxed out at 98 or 95, something like that. Can anyone explain the big drop to me.

btw,

this also happens when I use DW half staffs and DW fighting bo's and the like..

"and half the stat bonuses aswell".

I dont really know what you are talking about. With duel weps you get MORE stat bonus's then u would using a two hander.

Who cares? Bo's look bad *** in combat and that is all that matters:). I can't stand how stupid all the combat arts look using fists. Maybe at lvl 20+ they combat arts start getting more fist oreintated in appearance. But until then, I use a bo.

Bos just look so darn cool, that's the reason I made a brawler...on my way to betray to Qeynos and become a monk eventually :)

I dunno why that is happening to you, unless there is some code enforced weapon penalty for bruisers. I can say though, that you are not really losing anything with that AC drop. Granted, 100 AC is quite a bit, but not when yours is that low already. AC isn't your game, so who cares if you lose some?

Just for comparison, my 19 crusader has 750 AC.

What is your point of comparing your ac as a crusader? As a bruiser at lvl 28 self buffed my ac goes over 2k.

My problem is not AC or weapons, but finding anyone to sell me armor, weps and skills I need to upgrade.

My suggestion is use Master Bo's Striking until about 21-22, and if you can afford it get firewood batons or steel maces. Up until 18 use fists, they will out-damage any weapon but from about 19 up use dual wields or a VERY good 2h. Weapons dont hit as hard as fists, but attack slower so your DPS will be higher with weapons. Keep using combos, and see whatever works for you.

Bare fists are viable. My attack rating is higher with bare fists than with weapons.

It is odd. I just recieved the bo for becoming Monk. When I use it on a green it's ok. Blue I have to change back to fist wraps halfway through the fight so that I can survive.

Oddly enough my staff is maxed.. Not sure what's going on, is there a Bo skill or does that fall under staff?

Yes, I forgot about 2 handed staff animation. I've also noticed that fists are their own animation as well.

Congrats sony, you now have 4 distinct.. well kinda distinct fighting animation and dozens of different weapons.

Are you on test server? If you are, it could be part of the deflection patch. I'm not sure how equipping fist wraps vs bo is changing your ac. It'll change your attack, but shouldn't effect your ac safe the few points of agi bonus.

You skill in fists and staff determine what weapons con to you. Fist and staff raise with level automatically, allowing you to equip better weapons. It's your crushing skill that determines your accuracy with them, and they all use the same skill. Bruisers and monks only use ranged, crushing and to a VERY limited amount, slashing.

It's my guess that he's looking at attack, and not armor class. But even if he is, AC IS his game. To many bruisers try and get by with avoidance alone. A good tank wears the best armor she can get, and uses a shield while tanking. Keep your armor up to date, and use a shield, otherwise you're going to take alot of damage when you fail to avoid. Because an avoidance tank is not excuse to skimp on armor.
