2 Questions: coin drop and centaur horseshoeFollow

#1 Dec 17 2004 at 4:25 PM Rating: Decent
First , Are mobs ever gonna drop coin, or have they abandoned that all together?

Second, I got a centaur horse shoe in thundering steppes, and when examining it a quest popped up called: In quest of a lucky charm. All it says is to keep an eye out for a perfect centaur shoe. Anyone do this quest yet? If so, what did you have to do, kill centaurs? make horseshoes in tradeskill? any help would be appreciated.

I'm wondering the same thing about mobs dropping money. It is seriously difficult to make any cash in this game unless you do tradeskills. I'm 19, have bought only 3 apprentice 3 spells and only have about 1gp. I haven't bought armor or anything because I simply can't afford it. Total the amount spent and the amount I have right now and I've made maybe 2.5gp and that's probably stretching it. Should I be this broke? On the flip side I guess it is kinda silly to have a rhinocerous walking around with money in his pockets.

As for the centaur shoe you must be a good race or a higher level than me. I haven't even seen a centaur let alone their shoes.

I've been in groups that have fought mobs up to the mid to high 20s and they drop no coin. Things might be different post-30 (or now post-40 I guess); here's hoping so anyway.

I'll offer a suggestion that has been made to me and it's a good one: harvest resource nodes whether you're a tradeskiller or not. Even if you can't make things with them, the game has dedicated Artisians who can and they need your electrum, iron, lead, tin, roots, pelts, etc., and they're willing to pay pretty decent prices for them (I generally sell my tier 2 materials for 20-ish copper each and, provided I have the time, generally sell out at that price. Yes, I sell quite a bit lower than other people do...but I want to be able to consistantly sell what I have quickly so I'll take quantity sold over maximum profit for each).

Found out what ya have to do for the centaur shoe. Kill Zail Smoothmane, and viola , quest journal updates as finding the perfect horseshoe and instantly gives you a pretty nice item.
