I know this is a novel concept, but ever think they are trying to isolate the problem and determine exactly what it is? Should they give us the technical play-by-play or continue to try to solve the problem? In the real world (as opposed to the fantasy world) sometimes solutions don't happen instantaneously -- although that is difficult for some in the Pepsi Generation to grasp.

(or does Sony patrol these boards and hand out cookies to those who sing their praises...? Have I been missing something here?)

Yea, but it's more fun to goof off and get a laugh out of things than to be bitter and upset. I would rather be sitting here getting loaded shooting the **** with all of you than posting on SOE's website about how my life is over because I didn't get to play tonight.
alcohol induced drunken ramblings>>>>>seething black hatred and bitterness
Man, if I had a nickle for everytime I said that..........

I do not believe the servers are going to be up tonight at all, and I think that they may still be down when I wake up tomorrow (its 10:30PM Central time now)

So, its time to find something else to do for awhile...

Miaa don't want a play by play, never said that. LOL wouldn't understand it if they did. I would like a little more information, however. By this time (10 hours into the downtime) they should have some idea of what is wrong, or they know they are still scratching their heads and it's gonna be a long night for them. That's the kind of information I would appreciate. A "hey guys, we're working really hard here, but we think it could be x more hours at least, have a beer go to bed and we'll try to have it tomorrow."

Get my drift? I don't think asking for more than a "we don't know" is asking too much. I know they are trying their best to fix the problem, and hope they will be able to join us soon on the forum, beer in hand, problem fixed.

Oh well, if the servers don't come back up all weekend it's not the end of the world. I'm going to make a goal for my self to do something fun besides video games this weekend. Let's see, how about, ummmm , hummm, I got it, a new tattoo!!

I am pretty drunk and can never spell tatoo right in the first place so go ahead and correct it for me if you're bored

Evawick, what's the point of them posting "we don't know what's wrong?" Would that make you feel better? The last official post said something like (and this is not a direct quote, but a paraphrase) "rest assured we will not stop working until Everquest 2 is up and running." What more do you want?

Im not supposed to report back in for another 45 min, but I must clear up a comment by Jakstrw, yes, your most welcome to make a jedi froglok, but remember you cant tag your last name to puddlejumper until you reach the appropriate level. (but in all creativity, Ill see what Earl can pass along)

-and in all seriousness, when I started, there were some really weird toons waiting at the docks on the island welcoming new players and handing out bundles of cookies and milk. There were two, one at the dock and one inside the compound anwsering questions about the game: they had names like "helper" or "guide" so-and-so, and they were players. I talked to one for a few minutes and was immeadeately impressed with EQ2. It was nice to see the ones who built the game interact with the ones who play it. It only happened one other time that I can recall, on SWG when our city upgraded to get the shuttleport, there were a few present at the party we had thrown in celebration (but they were rude)

ahem..Ill report back with a server update in..20 min or so :)

Miaa, they are a commercial company with lots of competition, it's a given that they will work 24/7 until fixed, they can't afford not too.

My issue is first they've wiped xp debt, then free playing time. Those two things indicate that this probably isn't going to be fixed tonight. IF this is the case, they should go ahead and say it. We're 12 hours into this downtime, and I think more from Sony would be nice.

Am I gonna get pissed and quit the game? NO

Am I gonna blast sony for lack of customer service? Except for this little rant, NO

I've worked with programmers, and it's always "that won't take long" with the ones I've worked with, no matter how long it ends up taking, so perhaps its just a programmer mentality to think they'll get it fixed sooner than is realistic.

And you programmers out there don't blast me for that comment, I admit to limited experience with VERY good programmers, it's just that their concept of how long a fix can take doesn't always translate into real time well.
