Well all in all I would have to say the users of this forum are far more considerate and patient than the people who are posting on the sony forums now. More than a few appear to be ready to have not one but two anneyurisms (dont care how its spelled :P).

I for one am amused, I have 4 accounts the wife and both kids play =) yes it does rock =). I am hoping that we can get some play time in tonight but if not then I can wait till tomorrow, I still have my eq1 account :P.

For the record though, this is a major screwup, and it should be a lesson about patching on Friday/Saturday. Save your fixes till Monday (maybee give yourselves an extra two days on the test server :) ).

To all the contributors of Allakhazams thank you for making both my Eq and Eq2 games much more enjoyable =).

Hmm well I understand that were all humans and we all make mistakes but I think the point of the post was that putting in a patch on a Friday morning is a preventable error.

Oh well....go do something fun about to go play poker.

Speaking of not patching on Friday, I do have a legitimate question that I would like an answer to. Sony does a daily patch on the server, as we all know - (or is that just a daily backup or something).

My question is, if they are patching these things daily, are they actually testing any of these "little" daily patches on the test server? I know they are testing the big one they pushed back to next week, but given the frequency of the little ones I had to wonder about testing.

Anyone have a comment? LOL we got nothing better to do than speculate.

So, I buy EQII when the EQ1 servers go down, crying off EQ1 once and for all, since not only is EQ1 a huge timesink in its own right, but WAITING to play this timesink is not exactly my idea of a good time.

So, after patiently waiting through the hour long install and the 45 minute update download (45 minutes!! What is this, Half Lfe 2?), NOW I have to sit through a server downtime? That's been going on since noon PST, and it's now 804pm PST? Is anyone else getting a little peeved at companies releasing games long before they're ready? (*points at Worlds of Warcraft, Lineage II...*) I thought that's what Beta was FOR...I'm really tired of paying 50+ dollars to Open Beta test supposedly "Release" versions of games.

So, to every one lucky enough to already have a character in EQ2, I'll see you sometime tomorrow, hopefully.

I've been drinking. Few peeps over my place and we are playing some old school NES. And well then there's this forum addiction I have recently been working on, not a horrible night but I would still rather be in game.

I'm not a programmer/developer, but I've been on the wrong side of a new platform release, so I kinda feel sorry for the guys at sony, while I really want to rant as well..

It's a new game, and as I have learned in real life, users do things you NEVER tested for cause you never thought to try it lol. Let's give em a little more time, then storm headquarters if it's not back up :)

Im not supposed to do this, but I wanted to let all of the hardcore, dedicated customers of Sonys EverQuest 2 know the truth, all of the upper management guys sent out a gag order to all techs and represenatives that monitor and maintain this game you all play. Earlier today, the whole series of servers went down, as your all aware of, as of this writing, the situation still exsists. I have an inside contact at Sony, very reliable. Hes my sisters-brothers cousin Earl, and he works in ther janitorial department....This afternoon, there was a massive one hour sale at Wal-Mart: in the chaos of the rush to purchase those early bird gifts, one of the progammers (who shall remain nameless) TRIPPED over the main cord that supplies power to the main server that drives the others: now the bad news..It was reviewing all of your characters for the timed update for EQPlayers.com, all of your character information was lost...and Earl feels bad, but he assured me that when it comes back up, everyone will have the option to start as a Froglok (he then mumbed something about being able to use a lightsaber too) So, get ready my friends and loyal subscribers to EQ2, all is not lost...To further appease the customer base, I will be stationed at the entrance to the starter island giving out free cookies and milk and anwsering any questions you may have, see you there!

-this is not a joke, Ill report back in one hour with further updates...............................................

So, to all those intolerant, self-centered people from General Chat, I just want to say:

I'm in the minority where I am. It's still bright and sunny outside, and I have all evening/night left to play. If the servers aren't up for another four hours, I'll *still* have a ton of playtime. Sleep tight, suck it up, and quit whining. t(^.^)

lmao, that's great

It's cool Earl (if that is your real name) accidents happen. At least I know what happened and there is a good excuse. I mean who here has never tripped over a cord? I can rest easy now and look forward to making my new jedi froglok, Luke puddlejumper!!!!!

Unless I don't know where to look, no there isn't much info except that they're going to try to restore it to the 7 am patch. Typical of Sony not to talk to us. And folks, they deserve the occasional prod from us, if not a regular kick in the head. They are getting $RICH$ off us. They can give us better for that.

(or does Sony patrol these boards and hand out cookies to those who sing their praises...? Have I been missing something here?)

Not missing anything, just folks trying to keep their cool about what is, in the final analysis, a GAME. Yep, I'm aggravated with sony, would REALLY like more info about just what is going on, and am pissed about not being able to play tonight, but the guys trying to fix this are just employees like the rest of us, no sense getting all pissy with them.

That said....is it up yet LOL
