I would also ask that anybody who manages to get through to the update page periodically post the text here, and thanx to those who have...

I just tried logging in as well. I got to character screen and it said that I was in my apt. That is where I was Friday morning.

One thing that was interesting, it said the server was locked, not offline...

yeah and the guy who was posting the info on the EQ2 forums is now posting "notplay by notplay" of the staus reports here on Allak. ***** it all for first time since i cancelled City of Hero's subscription to "upgrade????" my eq EXPERIENCE to EQ2 i am truely sorry i did. Lineage 2 and Half-Life 2 are sure looking appealing atm because SOE has once again proved they have no problem takeing our money, but providing game support is lost on them. When their own people have to outsource to private gamer sites like allak. to supply players with info something is inherently wrong with the current system. And the first few expansions they try to gouge us for had either be given for free like other game companys do or well prepared and tested b4 rushing to get them out b4 competition gets theirs out. Honestly we are the problem because we let SOE get away with this crap by being loyal customers and buying everything they spoon out.

Hmm - I can't get to kithcore as of now. Saying 'no servers available for current zone'. Anyone know if they were trying to bring all the servers back with the new patch or if they were going back to pre-patch?

I'm thinking they announced that they fixed a bunch of exploits (wholesaler quests, etc) and might not have wanted to go back to the old code. If they were trying to restore the character backups AND fix the errors in the new patch the timing would make a lot of sense

IMO, there's a reason people are willing to "buy everything they spoon out." They make the best MMORPG's on the market, period. I went from EQ1 (3 years) to DOAC/AC (3 months) to quitting MMORPG's altogether for over a year, to EQ2.

There has never been a non-SOE MMORPG that could keep me happy. THAT is why I wait without crying.

Sorry I can't get back there to collect the text for a paste, but the 10:30 update said they were bringing Guk up for external testing and they were going to let a limited number of people in and see if it was ok.

No ETA as of yet.

That's exactly what they are doing. Rolling back data AND fixing the bug in the patch so it doesn't happen again.

As of right now both Guk and Najena servers are up, with light load. Here is a screenshot to prove it.

WTF, guys? someone requested the news from the SOE boards since they're buggy right now, so I posted the most recent two messages and get rated down for it? Last time I try to be helpful.

We will be opening up Guk shortly to a limited audience. When we have enough characters in the world, we will lock the server and monitor it to make sure all is well. Thanks again for being so patient as we work to get all of the servers back up and running.

We will continue to bring up servers as we are able to do so.

Im using fraps myself, but I did a little search in windows and it seems that they are in the main folder.

edit: as in C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II

I can understand rolling back the characters, but interesting that they would try to Rambo code the patch bugfree. Makes it a bit hard on the users. I'd probably roll back the system to the previous day, characters to 7am and send the patch back to the test group with a nastygram enclosed for reinstall when they get it right. Quick, easy and safer on the system. Only other thing to think about would be disabling the exploits.

I suppose they decided that the safest way of taking the exploits out was patch fixes and that it was worth the day of downtime. Not sure if I would have made the same call

I spent last night on my EQ1 druid. OMG it was great. I had even gotten some AA's refunded at some point, so I got new stuff. I then got a group to go do sewer trial #2. We killed the 4 guys, ran to the blue crystal room, the turn in guy was not there.. 20 min we stood there scratching our heads.. then a zone emote saying that "we sucked" and the 4 little spirit things started killing us.. hhhrrrmm. =/ Over all not a banner night in the lands of new or old EQ. However it was fun to kill things and to be able to port again.. I miss ports.. I want my ports.. And Why oh why can rogues track and my EQ2 druid can't?? ohh well, I went way into left field.. I need my EQ2.. I'm starting to go all funny in the head..

Would you guys just like me to set my clock to GMT when the next message comes out in 15 minutes so I don't get rated down? Is there a preferred time zone? Or should I even bother? It's a bit of a pain to get that status page to come up at all - which is why I think it was requested in the first place.

I get off work in about 40 minutes. Should I A, go to the bar and get trashed? or B, go home and hope the servers are up by around 9 EST?

Hit the bar man. Doesn't look to promising.

Boy was he right!

No worries. I already rated up the first three pages last night, might as well get started on the rest.
