Largely coincidence...Things have been running real smoothly since launch...This was quite unexpected...I think people have gotten a bit spoiled by everything running so smoothly...

They've been updating us every hour, but it would be nice to see some greater detail as to what happened...

Oh, I see, 'unexpected' LOL you have never played a VI or SOE game before we see. It is so sad when bubbles are burst...

Ok..Im a little late with my update, heres the 411: For those that skipped the previous pages, I have a contact within Sony..hes Earl the janitor. Please refer back to my previuous postings for more info on Earl:

Remember, this is in all confidentiality, anything that is said here is and will be denied by me..the insider. My goal is to provide those dedicated subscribers the information that Sony has neglected to provide to us:

The accidental pulling of the plug has induced a catastophic cascade of server shutdowns..the outcome is unclear, and as just getting off the cellphone with the Earlmeister (whos risking his job to bring us this information btw) He had been listening in on a meeting with the bigwigs at Fony..err Sony. They were gearing up to provide all of us hardcore and dedicated subscribers a free cupon for the 'new'! slimmer more compact version of the PS2..and one free game of our choice! Then Earl again mumbled something about sales that were dying because of microsoft or something...the last words from Earl I heard before I lost contact was 'conspiracy'....and then static.

Please keep your thoughts with Earl in this tragic time, hes doing his best to keep us all updated on the problems at hand.Ill post again in one hour. :)

Oh..Jakstrw? Earl risked it, Puddlejumpers a go when the servers come back up :)

Thanks for the update. My thoughts and prayers go out to Earl and his family during these dark times. Earl you are a god among janitors. May your mop heads never dry rot and your turpentine always taste sweet in the morning. I have contacted Tom Clancy and he is writing his next novel about Earl, janitor turned covert spy fighting the evil SOE cartel!
*raises his fist in defiance* Fight the man Earl! *sob* Fight the man!

Long live puddlejumper!

Someone mentioned the Test Server to get their fix.....sorry to report but the planned 'big patch' due the live servers on Monday was pushed to Test on Thursday (ish). It's totally unplayable. I crashed to Server select 5 times in 2 hours. I re-booted and logged into test again. Crash in less than 2 mins and another in 10 mins (both to char select).

That code is clearly not ready to go to live as yet, but the changes are very positive when they get it stable. Clearly with the live issues, work on debug for test client isn't gonna happen too quickly. Maybe worked on on Mon/Tue, load tested for stability then pushed to live Thur???? Well I'm hopefull :)

Link to network status page for EQ2 is http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/network_status.vm

If you scroll down to "Network Status", it does say all servers are up in green text. Calling the tech support phone number and checking server status gets you the same information. Both are lying, of course...

Hey BD shame i didnt pick your server when i "upgraded?" to EQ2

just wondering when all our videocards are not compatable with EQ2 or our framerate needs to be readjusted or we dont have the right soundcard or we are all gonna have to reinstall and delete all our old client files Ect ect ect or some of the other excuses the CSR used to give us from EQbasic

We will be opening up Guk shortly to a limited audience. When we have enough characters in the world, we will lock the server and monitor it to make sure all is well. Thanks again for being so patient as we work to get all of the servers back up and running.

Seriously all,

I think every game I have played or tried has had a bad day. I remember D2 going down for 30 hours once. DAoC went down for a day once. EQ1 had a bad day once. So just sit back and relax and maybe enjoy a few hours with reality. LOL

Couple of thingsd guys,

EQ forums announced that we would see servers up, but this was for internal testing and non-sony peeps would not be able to log into player servers/zones. I know some have got to Character select, but can go no further.

Oh I just tried linking to the official forum and received a Lithium error message saying they were closed for maintenance, rotflmao :)

Thanks for the links guys. And actually it appears that my only request with all of this is being taken care of. They said "free time" will be added in to make up for the amount of time we can't play. Now of course the didn't explain but I interpret this to mean that there will be time added to our accounts due to this issue. That satisfies me. It means they understand we are paying for a service that we can't use. Wow, they understand something. Ow I just hurt my brain.
