Yeah.
It is just getting a touch extreme.
I might have to whip out my EQ1 druid and run around with him for a bit.
But, of course, when I do the servers will come back online.
I think I'll just wait for the monster patch to pull out my old druid.
I miss him. *sniffle*

Server Maintenance 12/17/2004 12:30 PM

We are currently restoring US servers and Innovation to their state at the time of this mornings 7AM PST update. An ETA is unavailable at this time. We will be updating you with progress hourly and will deliver a more firm ETA as soon as we can. Worlds will be brought back online as they are ready. Thank you for your patience.

hope no one did anything important after this mornings update... I know I myself lost a bunch of harvests..

Sorry to say but I don't think you will get items back if you got them after the 7 a.m. PST reset time. On EQ1, as far as I know, they never gave back items that were obtained right before the crash but then lost due to a rollback after the crash.

They must have dropped a pretty big one to have to roll back like that. It is inevitably going to cause havoc and a lot of ill-will.

Anything they do is going to cause a lot of ill will. People are far too sensitive to any tiny change with thier gaming experience. SOE can't win either way. :/

Sucks that the servers are down and it also sucks pretty bad for those that lost whatever work they put in today. However, I have to agree that it shouldn't be taken to seriously.

The one thing I would like to see is SOE add up all the time spent patching and refund (or add it) to your account. i.e. If the servers are down for patching 24 days for 1 hour a day every account gets 1 extra day on their payed subscription. I think that would be somewhat of a good faith showing from them. However, it's not like they need to do that because we all still pay and play these games pretty much regardless of patch times.

I totally agree - SOE cant win either way, but if they keep servers down people will be really PISSED OFF *grins*

I'm curious as to what happened...

This mornings patch was rather insignifcant from what I gather and things had been running pretty well, IMO, prior to today...

Maybe somebody hacked their servers...German kids probably...Might be the Uzbekistanians though...They caught wind of the upcoming patch that nerfed their plat cartel...Uzbekistanians are such reactionaries...

Apparently a lot of players lost their quest journals and spells, wouldn't want that to happen to me, lol.

I just hope that the repatch doesn't make me loose the quest I just completed, took a long time and quite a good group to complete.

This downtime is extreme though, I only experienced it once with EQ I. But that was two days in a row, wonder if they'll beat that record, here's hoping they don't, lol.

I do doubt sincerely that Sony will compensate this, they never did with EQ I, and it would be almost impossible to refund or give back everything so many players lost. Although a free day added to the subscription would be nice ofcourse.

Not sure if this had anything to do with it maybe it was just patched in but when i logged on this morning i went to the willowwood merchant to sell all my junk stuff and items that used to sell for 55c was sellin for 16 to 17 silver.

What bothers me is that I have not seen any hourly updates; cannot get into a chat channel; and it seems a long time for a reversion. Otherwise, I have not mined the daily (almost) updates.

I am in chat channel atm and so far all they haver told is that all servers are being rolled back to before the patch this morning and that will take some time but is in progress

The news on the eq2 sony site says they are doing a "rollback" and they apologized to the europe player base.

Rumor is the restore is going to be from 7AM pst, when the patch was installed. This would essentially wipe out anything you've done after the patch.

Rollbacks suck. Down time sucks. But alot of accounts got screwed up by the patch and they gotta fix it....

That sounds like the sort of thing they'd rollback for. If there was a goldrush they can't easily act against the players without admitting their mistake. Rolling back will correct the situation.

I am not fond of conspiracy theories but it does make you wonder if the plat industry has a mole at SoE. Some items changed price to create similar massive profit opportunities in EQ. Of course they denied any inside involvement but who else can change the NPC prices?

Old EQ players will remember the Great Cheese Rush. SoE is quite good at this sort of ****-up. As a programmer I would have thought it fairly easy to create a policing application to continuously search for unbalanced prices on NPC vendors.

BAH!! this is painfull.

Since I am married, I on average, only play 2 hours a night after my wife goes to bed. Today however, she is going out with friends from work, and for the first time, I was to have the entire evening to play......

I even checked out what I wanted to accomplish tonight.....attain level 16 and 3 levels of tradeskills.

Oh well......another night.
