Is allakazam losing to ogaming? i renewed my subscription to Allakazam as soon as i got my hands on EQ2, I was sure this site was gonna be the primary EQ2 site, but where is all the good stuff e.g Lucy, Quests, Bestiary, Advanced weapons search ect.

This is more a plead to do something more than a rant, i really love this site.

I have to agree to some extent..
Alla is not as good some other sites..
Who are we to blame?
Mostly ourself for not submitting enough I guess but imo alla need to change some stuff and fix the search for quests etc.
Also most of the time search is disabled to me due to high load.. :(

just my 2 coppars

They shouldn't disable the search function for those of us that pay for thier service.

Indeed.. I will not prolong my subscription here if things dont improve..

I really like this site: http://www.gry-online.pl/eq2/index.asp
With that kind of layout plus a poliched searchengine it would be the no1 page imo.. It just needs (as all other pages atm) more info.. So start submitting info to all sites you know!

Yeah I am not satisfied with the site as it currently exists. Several unforseen things combined to slow down the progress on it. Hopefully, things should start picking up soon. Though if you are at the cutting edge of levelling in the game, it will never really have the information you want. We rely upon people finding things and sending them in, and it's my experience that the ones who find things first are rarely the ones who send in the info. It's usually the ones who come through later in larger numbers that submit things.

As for an EQ2 Lucy, I am told not to expect it. The structure of the game is completely different then EQ or WoW (where we are able to get all game info directly from the game) so we can't really capture anything that useful. For this game, we just have to gather information one player at a time. That's going to take some time unfortunately.

The forum over there sucks bigtime, imo. Just registered and was immediately turned off. This site has been hit or miss lately for speed, but over the years has been invaluable and I'll continue to support it unless it turns to crap.

It's a shame about Lucy, would have been really cool.

The problem, for me anyway, is not so much the database, but the fact that its impossible for me to find the best weapon for my class and lvl. That has always been the strength of allakhazam, some sort of advanced weapon search, that gives you the best weapon or equipment for your lvl in the game.

I really love Allahazan /hug :) and know you can reclaim the trone.

I've got a site in development, it's like lucy on steroids. All accurate info. I'll try to keep ppl informed when we go public. Working out kinks in the collector program first.

cheers

There is more to a gaming site then the ammount of info that it contains. For example look at the great patch of 12/17/04, we had fun here and everywhere else panties were wadded, seriously wadded. I am guilty of having completed a number of quests that are not in this database. I'll send em in ASAP and eventually this site will have just as much info as the others.

I've been a fan of Alla here like many of you since it's inception. While the item database may have it's problems overall it's still a great resource. It's easy to forget with all the new games out how "tried and tested" this site is. When others have gone the way of the dodo you can always count on Allkhazam. Huge labor of love here and you have to admire how He and Illa have come off despite all their hardships.

I'll keep supoorting it and i'm sure it will come up to snuff with time. Cross ref quests and items with other sites has always been standard.

Having said all that I do hope in the future premium members are allowed to access premium features for EQII as they currently do for EQ1. it would be nice to personalize my searches for my specific needs and characters.

Peace.

ogaming has a lot more content.

Having said that, ogaming has a lot more INCORRECT content. Alla is based on live, ogaming on beta. Things changed significantly between beta and live but unfortunately, ogaming didn't keep up.

So while there may be more content there currently, keep in mind that the info you get there may be slightly inaccurate or just plain wrong.

I am loyal to Alla. I use to come on the site and boards for EQ1 a few years back and if I couldn't find the info I was looking for, there was always someone on the boards to help me out. Knowing that your questions can be answered by knowledgable people on the boards are more important to me than a vanilla flavored guide. I am glad to see after a 3 year absence that some things never change. =) But that is just my opinion.

The info seems little blank sure, but lots change with patches lately better then OUTdated info. Alla was number one for me on multiple previous games like FFXI and eq1. I am a bit suprised at the speed and lack of content on the boards currently as well.

Priest section gets like one reply a day hehe =p I have every confidence it will be great some day soon though.

I too would like an equipment search engine but the way gear is configured in EQ2 seems to make that very difficult. In EQ everything was tagged for class and race. Even the search engine there could not tell you what was best for your level. You had to do the sums yourself on what part of the stats you would obtain.

The added complexity of items going grey just makes it worse. The FAQ says that as you grow out of items you will get less from them but as far as I can see if an item says "+4health +4power" it continues to be that whatever colour it is.

And yes we all forget to send in quest info or update the info posted.

This site is the product of it's contributors - if it isn't as good as another site then it's us not Allakhazam to blame.

Alla's site will always be #1 for me. But mostly for goofing off in the ASSylum. Heh.

But on the off chance that I actually want to look up something related to a game, I still use this site. Ogaming is too cluttered for me, and I'm an old fart who likes things simple.

I would like to see some info that is missing from the items. Like the Skill required to use it. one hand? dual? can I use it? who knows. and search I really need to search the database with more options. I love this site thats for sure and the forums are the best. I do find my self at other sites when i need to search for better gear or just see if i can use something. A quest now and then that I cant find here. Maps and Spell info. But this is always my first site.

I signed up for an extended subscription immediately upon release of EQ2, but frankly have been disappointed in the search abilities offered. I felt that even though more powerful searches were not implemented early on, they would be introduced as time passed. With the searches (not the info contained in the searches) remaining too broad, I won't be renewing my sub when the time comes. I really loved the search abilities in the original EQ and hope the new site improves.

I'm using OGaming more than Allakhazams :(
