I heard that you can have a pet. How do you go about getting one? I've been trying to get a cat, but all I get when I click on it, is 'Assist'. thanks
You buy them from the pet shop. I believe the Qeynos shop is in South Qeynos. They're gonna run you multiple gold, though.

What's the advantage to buying a pet? Is this different from the pet you get as summoner? If so, are there any major pros to buying one vs using the one you already have?
think of a store-bought pet as "a moving cute household fixture" and you get the idea.. it's a nifty for people to have to make those who visit their homes green with envy enough to spend the few gold on a kitty or something..
now summoner pets and fluff spell "pets" are different since they can leave the inn room and follow you about and often be useless but cute.. ('cept summoner-class pets, which are anything but useless)

The pets you get from the pet store have no special abilities or attacks. You do get a pull-down list of actions they can do, sit, stay, sleep, etc.
I think they can also follow you when you adventure, but they still don't do anything other than follow you.

Pets will reduce your status upkeep if you have a status room.
I have 4 pets atm, they range from 1 gold and a few silver and up. I pretty much got the cheapest ones you can buy. My status has been reduced between 4 pets, lore and legend items, collected items, and heritage items from 1800ish upkeep to 500ish upkeep.
I have never heard of pets following you on a adventure? Certain classes get a spell that summons a pet that does nothing (certain scout classes and paladins for sure) but that is the only ones I know of.

Yes some classes get fluff pets.
Wizard gets a cat at 20
ranger a hawk
Assassin a rat.
Paladin and Shadow knight get squires at 40 and horses at 20.
By far the "best" fluff spell in game IMHO is the warlock curse of the frog. What better way to tick off an anoying group member =)
