Good/EvilFollow

#1 Dec 16 2004 at 4:27 PM Rating: Decent
Listen, I know I am just asking to be flamed and everything.. but what is the whole good/evil thing? What does it change? Does it prevent certain things to do with good characters and such? I know i am a newb, but if you choose to flame me please go easy on me. Also, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! ^_^

The first impact will be your starting city. Goodies go to Qeynos, Baddies go to Freeport.
This obviously affects your initial hunting grounds as you can only safely hunt near your city at low levels.

Another aspect that is affected later on is your choice of sub-class (at level 20). Unless you decide to betray your home city, you will only be able to advance to a subclass that is supported by that city.
So the good characters will only be able to advance to the "good" subclasses while the evil characters will advance to the "evil" subclasses only.

To answer the question froma different perspective I would say beyond the technical things noted by Overlord, there is absolutely nothing different about good v. evil.

Both cities will require the same things as far as quests, etc., althought he flavor of them will be different (In Qeynos: Go help so and so... In Freeport: Go kill so and so...)

The reason it has been so hard for me to play a toon in Freeport is that I like to roleplay. Roleplying bad guys means that you are acting evil, rude, mean, etc. all the time. Most players can only take so much, and everyone depends on others at times for groups and everything else. I just cannot see NBG, for example, in Freeport. It's all about greed there!

So until such time as SOE gives bonus xp to Qeynosians for doing good deeds and the same to Freeporters for doing evil ones, no big difference imho...

There is no job armor. This isn't FFXI. Each class can use different armor types but its not specific to the class. So all mages use very light armor regardless of class.

At this time, there is no PvP implemented.
Maybe they are working on it but no one really knows. The last statement from Sony is that PvP was not planned for EQ2.

the only difference between good and evil, other then ware you are sent (freeport or qeynos), is how npc's react to you.

In freeport you'll get a lot of things like "Get out of my face!" and racial (in game race) slurs such as things like "I can't belive the overloard considers you things a race!"

Qeynos is the exact opposite. with a very shall we say, disney dialog.

I realy wish they made a neutral city, getting insulted all the time in freeport or praised all the time in qeynos gets old

Main difference as far as I'm concerned: Your guild will most likely have either Paladins or Shadowknights, not both. This goes for all the good/evil classes: Monks/Bruisers, Illusionists/Coercers, Conjurers/Necromancers, etc etc. This will probably change eventually (with alts only) and they will be rare. This is because to get certain benefits your members must be allied with the same city as the guild, so a Qeynos based guild will give little to no benefits to a citizen of Freeport.
