I just got Eq2 per the advice of a few of my friends. I started earlier and I had a few questions I was hoping I could get answered.
- I heard about tradeskills, is this like the same money-making guilds in FFXI, such as cooking, clothcraft?
- When I was asked what job to take, I chose mage, but I saw that at level 9-10 it branches into 2 other classes. What is the differance between Sorcerer and Wizard?
- Is there a way that I can set chat filters, and set the chat text over black so I can see it even if the background is a light color?

Thanks alot for your posts and advice in advance. ^_^

Yes tradeskills are the same as cooking and such. Only it is not a boring in EQ2. You have to counter problems by clicking Skills on the Tradeskill page in Knowledge Window.

I do not know the difference between Sor and Wiz but to the left of this post should be a class description area, go there.

All chat window and filter options can be gotten to by right clicking the appropriate chat window. For the black background you simply make the win not opaque all the time.. As for chat filters I might be incorrect, but if I am it's somewhere in your EQ2 button -> Help Topics..

hmm..
I've not done much trade skilling so I can't answer that one clearly...

mage classes, and again.. I may not be 100% correct, but I have a Sorceress and a Summoner, two of the three choices upon finishing the class advancement quest.... my sorceress is easily a nuker, my summoner can do nukes but is actually quite capable at crowd control... don't get me wrong, my sorceress can do a little crowd control as well.. but my summoner also has a summoned pet to throw at mobs in addition to the Arcane Binding spell.

I've never played an Enchanter so I dunno how they differ and what their abilities are.

sony's main site does a better job describing them... I think, than I do.

anywho, yes there are chat filters and you can set your chat window background transparency to 100% all the time instead of just on mouse over, which makes your background black.
