Group Level LimitsFollow

Does anyone know the level limits you can have in groups and still get exp? For example a level 16 can group with what levels and get exp? Is there a chart or a rule of thumb somewhere? Thanks for any help :)

Well XP is of course based on the highest lvl in the pt. So basically if you are 16 and fighting reds which would be 19? and you have a lvl 18 onboard. Then the XP would be based off of a yellow hurting your XP quite alot. You can have a farily large gap in the levels but expect to have to fight very hard enemies. Which is going to be hard since you wont hit as often and get hit more. And that means only the high lvl in the pt will be truly producing anything but his own blood..

Thanks I was just wondering if there was a cap like in EQ for you being in a group and not able to get any exp because the others were too high in level :)

i believe it may be fairly narrow... i was playing my brawler, who i think was 12, and grouped with an 18, and got a msg on each kill that said that i wouldnt get xp.

it may be based on a percentage difference or something.

yeah..but 12 and 18 is a huge difference. At level 12, you can't kill anything solo in commonlands..and at 18, you can solo most of it.

Also..at such low level..12 -> 18 is a 33% difference.

26 and 20 might not be as bad.

I usually group with ppl within 3 levels or so. My parties at level 21 still had level 18's in it.

aye... it's huge... they made me stay... but that's a long and nasty story :x.

in eq1 the difference had to be at or less than 1.5*level or summot. not sure if they stuck with the same guideline, but it appears to be based on the higher end here, since the higher level toon will still get xp, where i think it was based on the lower end in eq1.

oh, and the msg also said no quest credit for the kills either.

i think i've grouped with a 4 level diff ... like 14 - 18 or so... the limit may be 5ish at that level... but i'd venture to say it may widen at higher levels.

I believe that it is five levels. I grouped with a 19 on my level 14 Shaman, but when he dinged 20, I stopped getting exp.

EQ2 is set up so that anyone with-in 75% of the highest level will get exp AND quest updates. If you are lower than 75% of the highest level you will not receive either.

highest level 16 --> 12 lowest level
highest level 20 --> 16 lowest level
highest level 24 --> 18 lowest level
highest level 28 --> 21 lowest level
highest level 32 --> 24 lowest level
highest level 36 --> 27 lowest level
highest level 40 --> 30 lowest level
highest level 44 --> 33 lowest level
highest level 48 --> 36 lowest level

Note I picked all the easy math for my examples.

I dont know how high level a 19 can group with. It will be at LEAST 24, but no higher than 27. My guess would be 25.

Also I don't know how far down this extends. The math says that the highest a level 6 can group with is level 8. That seems like a tad low of a level range.

I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about. I'm halfway through 15 and have soloed exclusively in the commonlands. The carrion hounds were soloable around 10, pick your battles is all. 11-14 was spent soloing on the undead orcs near the graveyard entrance. The only ones I have had trouble with were some of the stronger groups of three and a couple of the blue arrow up groups. Other than that they all go down to my Crusader's blade. I do avoid the orc lieutenants for now though.

With my Wizard, I soloed almost 100% of the time to 20. I think I grouped maybe three times. And usually I got more debt than exp.

It is 75% or 6 levels whichever is HIGHER.

So at level 10:
75% of 10 is 7.
10-6=4
A level 10 could group with a level 4 and both would get xp.

At leavel 50:
75% of 50 is 37.
50-6=44
A level 50 could group with a level 37 and both would get xp.

I find it very forgiving. I have no idea what a level 37 could do against mobs even green to a 50. :P

NOTE: My math rounds down. I'm not sure this is correct, and I encourage you to find if round up or down is correct if it is important to you.
