I would guess (whether this gets implemplented sooner or later) that in the end, the only way to get credit will be to actually harvest the items.

Marketboard? Wholesaler? Broker? I've read numerous comments about the existence of these but haven't a clue where to locate them. Even a general idea would be helpful.

I'm extremely keen on purchasing a box for my bank, for example, so I don't have to keep destroying items before discovering if these "LORE. NO TRADE" items have value for crafting.

Marketboard: found on local npc merchants.

Broker: I know there is one in N. Qeynos

Wholesaler: Found in the tradeskill shops (I might be getting this one confused with something else, but I am sure that is correct)

Next?

I tried banking the task items I needed and then withdrawing them one at a time and I DID NOT receive credit for 'harvesting' that item. I didn't have the chance to see if putting the resource in the shared bank or having an alt put the item in the shared bank and then me withdrawing it would make a difference.

I can not find the thread on the official forums that I got my information from, so I apologize for being mistaken. Have you tried giving it to a friend and them trading it to you one at a time? I will assume that this would not work as well.

Giving it to a friend works. In my case I asked a total stranger to take the few minutes it took to trade my five lead clusters to them and trade them back one at a time. Worked like a charm...got my 12s and was a happy lil gnome. My Ma told me to be wary of the kindness of strangers...but there ya go....

When did you do this? I know this used to work, but I thought they fixed it. Last time a friend and I tried to do it, around 4 or 5 days ago, it no longer gave quest credit when items were traded.

In Qeynos, there is a broker in North Qeynos, South Qeynos, Qeynos Harbor, and inside every tradekill society. There is also a hidden fence in Qeynos Harbor who sells brokered goods from Freeport.

I wasn't coming down on you Arcos. If it sounded that way, I apologize.

I just wanted to post my negative experience trying that method.

I hate it's gone because it can be very time consuming trying to harvest, say, 15 clusters of electrum when there are 50 other people trying to harvest it as well and the rock nodes are few and far between- at least there are fewer of them than there are fungi or shrubbery.

On a related- anyone actually gotten a task to harvest something from fungi or shrubbery? Or, in fact, anything other than pelts, electrum, iron or tubers? I'm guessing that those might not be given because, although the other resource nodes are plentiful, there are so many different items that you can get harvesting from them that these tasks would be even more difficult to complete if you had to return with like 15 murdunk oranges.

Hehehe... don't worry about it. I didn't take it that way. ^^

As to your related note, I have not received any tasks to harvest from fungi or shrubbery. Nor fish either. I had received a task to get turquoise (sp?) once, but that's an ore node harvest.

I seem to have shot myself in the foot in my "rush" to get to 20. Now I have mine gold clusters and my skills aren't up to snuff. ><

I've gotten the following wholesaler quests at the 12sp level:
-severed maple
-tuber strands
-electrum
-average sullied pelts
-turquoise
-iron
The tuber strands are the only ones that come from harvesting. Mining has the most. Interestingly, the pelts can be any combination of types (badger, deer, etc.).

This is almost certainly common knowledge but pelts can drop off mobs as well- like armadillos- and those pelts looted from the carcasses do count for your task. Might speed things up a bit if lots of folks are out there looking for Armadillo Dens.
