how much damage do you inflict?Follow

Hi, back in FFXI I read my guide and made me a ranger/thf cuz according to the game guide it was a good combo but somewhere half ways to lvl 37 thf I realized and was told that no ranger was subbing thf but ninja instead. so then I had to go back and start a ninja wasting a good week lvling thf to 16. Now days I am getting into EQ2 and didnt play the first EQ so I feel quite intimidated on what path to take. what concerns me the most is that I dont want the same thing that happened in FFXI to happen in EQ2. Let me ask you gamers what job combos have you seen work nicely or what combos have you seen do insane damage. please le me know.

Having read some posts here and the book I can only imagine theres more possible job combos so I must choose carefuly and patiently and therefore I'm asking for your experienced opinion and advices. I personaly love inflicting heave damage at the cost of anyting, be it armor, game currency, soloing, partying, being a mage or melee. my main goal is do damage althou I do incline to using bows and stealth but If you tell me the damage lays in the hands of a particular mage I will create that mage. Please help me choose the right sob. Thank you so much for you replies.

Unlike FFXI, there are no "job combos". You pick an Archtype.

Mage. Fighter. Priest, or Scout.

Then, from there, it branches off according to a few different things; alignment, Archetype, and level. But you do not get a job/subjob persay.

Say for instance this; My first character was a Fighter archetype. He was evil alignment. At level 10 I got to pick which path I wanted to take; Brawler (these are martial art style fighters) Warrior (traditional balanced damage and defense) or Crusader (a warrior with the blessing of Faith and some light spells) I picked Crusader. So at level 20, since I was evil and did NOT do betrayal quest, I'd have become a Shadow Knight. If I were a good Crusader, I'd have become a Paladin. But it would not have been Paladin/Warrior, nor could I do Shadow Knight/Scout.

There are several paths for each archtype. I don't have them all memorized. But generally this;

You want DPS while being in the middle of melee combat, doing quick, high damage? Be a scout Archetype. They are Damage Dealers of this game, melee style.

You want to be a tank? Be a fighter (note however, that brawlers are more damage oriented. Evil brawlers become Bruisers at lvl 20, and they are DD's, Monks, good brawlers... are high agility/martial artist tanks)

You want to cast magic and do damage while standing back from the fray, or maybe have a pet to command? Become a mage, this is their job.

You want to heal and get special buffs and a few damage spells here and there? Become a priest arch type.

Each special category of Archtypes have both similar and specialized/individualized advantages and disadvantages. But really, this is a game where you can be anything you want. You can be a gnome crusader, or a Troll scout. So don't worry too much about "the perfect setup" because there is a lot of leeway to play what fits your style best.
