Best place to do all of your tradeskills is the Island of Refuge. All of the "nodes" that exist there can take your skill up to level 20, which is what you need to start harvesting with in Antonica/Commonlands. If you are still on the island, do the quest that
Assistant Dreak gives you in Malvonicus' Tower. Seriously, this is the best place to get your Artistan level up to 7 or 8 just buy turning in all of those harvested items that you find while you are out adventuring. Make sure that you buy all of your fuel supplies from Quartermaster Brennar, they are decently low in price. Below are a few combinations to get you started. If you have left the Island already, you will have to find a place that will let you become a member, I recommend the Elusive Commonweath if you are in Qeynos.
When doing a combination, all you have to do is click on the recipe and if you have all of the components (marked by green or red numbers; red means you need it, green means you have it) and it will start the creation process. Press K to bring up your knowledge book and click on the Tradeskills tab. Various problems will arise while you are creating the item, and they will show what they are at the bottom of the creation window. Click on the matching picture in your book when they come up, for if you don't, it could mean the failure of your recipe and you may also be drained of power or health.
Here are some recipes that got me started:
Chloro Resin = raw roots + distilled water + candle
Chloro Oil = raw roots + distilled water + candle
Chloro Wash = raw roots + distilled water + candle
Elm Lumber(Refined Elm) = raw elm + Chloro Resin + sandpaper
Planed Elm = refined elm + Chloro Resin + sandpaper
Pressed Papeterie = raw roots + Chloro Wash + incense
Bar of Tin(Refined Tin) = tin cluster + fuel temper + coal
Tin Stud = refined tin + fuel temper + coal
Tin Sheet = refined tin + fuel temper + coal
Isonoid Reagent = lead cluster + Chloro Oil + candle
After making these, and getting to about artistan level 5 or 6, you should attempt, if your funds allow, to create some storage boxes for your bank. They are too heavy to hold on your inventory, but they have 6-8 slots each (depending on the quality) which can give you much more room to store your items.
Elm Storage Box Elm Storage Box = planed elm + tin stud + tin sheet + sandpaper
Good luck, and be sure to post back in this thread if you have any more questions, I will keep an eye on it. There aren't too many websites right now that have guides written out, you pretty much just have to experiment, or find someone with enough free time to write out big explanations...
