Help understanding Societies...Follow

#1 Dec 13 2004 at 12:55 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a bit confused when it comes to the role of Societies in EQ II.

Are they similar to Guilds in any way? Would it be correct to think of them as "pre-made, in-game" Guilds?

What is the advantage, if any, to gaining levels within a society, such as the "Elusive Commonwealth"? Any perks?

Why are some societies open to me and others are not? Can I get a certain society to open up to me in any way?

Any help in clearing this up for me would be greatly appreciated....

The only thing I know about societies is from the wholesaler society.

1) If you get to level 10, they start selling refined ingredients for your combines

2) It takes *forever* to level them. I can't count how many quests I've done but I've only managed to gain 1 level.

societies are tradeskilling organizations. you join one so that you can then use their equipment, and buy items for your tradeskilling combines from their vendors.

see this and other articles on eq2.eqtraders.com for more detailed information.
