The importance of food...Follow

Just a public service message for those who have not yet discovered the wonders of food. For those that don't know Food increases physical regen, and drink increases power regen.

The summoned food and water? Total garbage. Sure, it helps a little. But there are IV tiers of food that have been discovered thus far, and each dramatically increases your regeneration.

For example, currently I drink whiskey. This gives me an extra 24 power per tick over the summoned drink. It costs me 1 silver for an hour, and of course I only use it for xp groups. So five hours of xp is 5 silver worth of drinks. I can vendor anything, even animal meat, at level 30 and get five silver.

I am always the last healer to run out of power, and every healer I have given some whiskey too never goes back to summoned drink.

At the end of the xp session I always use the:

/stopeat
/stopdrink

commands. Or if I am going to solo for a while I may switch to filtered water. In any case player made food and drink drastically decrease downtime. So if you haven't, you may want to start using it!

Just like to add my experience. I now use Coffee (Antonican Coffee, to be exact) and damn, does that get me going! I'm wired for like an hour and 45 minutes, and it gives NICE regen. I mean 3/4 of a bubble (with over 800 power) regen.

That stuff keeps me going all night long... Smiley: tongue

And yes, I used to use summoned. It truely is garbage.

Thanks alot, you answered my question exactly. What food do you suggest for low levels, like 11?

Yes, please guys... don't rely on summoned food/water. It's horrible. I shudder everytime someone asks me to summon them some. I try to tell them that it's crap but they rarely listen. It's apparent when everyone else has full power and they're dragging along at 15-25%.

Breakdown of drink effects:

Summoned Water: +2
5c Water from vendor: +9
Tier I drinks (1-9 artisan): +12
Tier II drinks (10-19 craftsman): +24
Tier III drinks (20-30 provisioner): +36

The higher the quality and tier, the longer the food lasts as well with tier III food lasting up to 90 minutes.

There are level requirements to getting the full benefit of food. At level 11 just buy the filtered water and raw meat that vendors sell in each starting city zone. That should get you to level 20.

After that I would go with Whiskey for casters. I rely more on drinks than I do on food since I don't take all that many hits, but as a tank you probably want better food.

A guildie of mine is always good for some OJ. I can't remember what tier it is but the regen is pretty nice. Now if someone can just figure out how to make vodka in the game, I'll be GTG!

crafted food and drink is outstanding to have. im a lvl 12 craftsman and since they still havent fixed the books for craftsman above lvl 10 im stuck making only a few items of food and drink but ive noticed a big difference when useing my own crafted food/drink compared to useing rations and water my hp regen and power regen are jumped big time compared to useing the cheap ration/water combo. that and the plus side is you can buy all the items needed to make some basic items right inside your crafting guild from the vendor in there. now grouping it has its plus side as well i.e in a fallen gate group i was in last night i was grouped with 2 other predators besides myself and after a regular 3 mob fight they would be almost out of power while i useing about the same ammount of special attacks if not more was only at 50% power they were useing summoned food/drink or rations/water while i was useing creamed coffee and sunfish sandwhiches.
so if you can make food items do it. it does help out even if just a little bit and its fairly cheap i jsut cant wait till they fix the craftsman books so i can experiment with new types of food/drink.

Hey this is a good post. I just played my wife's char up to a lvl 13 prov. so she can make us food and drink. Did roasted carrots, candied oranges, and a buncha cichlid steaks.

U need to know all the bizarre names for player made food to find good prices for em on the broker (to do a good search). Basically search for anything u are 'harvesting' - at tier2 this includes orange, carrot, thyme, crab, cichlid, grouper ... um, elephant and vulrich. I forgot the drinks. Maybe someone can post em pls?

Have read that the effects of tier3 food and drink do not help u at tier3 lvl if u are only tier2 - meaning if yer lvl 14 and buy tier3 food and drink, you only get tier2 regen. So they prenerfed that one right there, if this is true. Still, tier2 regen is WAY better than none.

Are you not a chef and want to try to save money on this? Save up food items as you harvest, if you have the slots. I bet if you "/ooc trading 20 thyme 20 oranges 20 wheat etc. for player-made food" in a big zone u will eventually get a chef who will fix u up w/ a decent amount of ready to use food and drink. If not, bite the bullet and buy some. The regen is worth it.
