I had a strange problem yesterday with a family of badgers.

We engaged the 3 of them and killed the first at which point the remaining two vanished. We were still being hit and the messages changed from "A Lowland badger hits you" to "Unknown hits you" but we could not target. I managed to pick up "Unknown" using the nearest NPC button ( a dangerous thing I hate doing) but just got that it was too far away to hit. Then the badgers came back and we could hit them for a while, then they vanish again. This happened four or five times before we killed them all.

Obviously we reported the bug

Are other people getting this or are we just lucky?

Lol. First day of release, I was doing the undead prince quest in Qeynos (Down Below) and every time we would pull a group all but one would disappear and keep beating on us. Turned what should have been 20 sec fights into 5 min. ones. Even the Princes gaurds vanished at one point. Ive had it happen several times after that to.

Heres one, half way through an encounter with 4 alabastor behemoths (I was soloing) they respawned on me. I killed 2 of the 4 and all the sudden they despawn, then respawn (all of them mind you) and attack me again. Ran like a little ***** I did. This happened on the second day of release, so might be fixed now.

Its a bug.
Mobs vanish into the ground etc.
Very annoying sometimes as you have to run away far to break encounter and get regen back to normal and then return to camp..
Had this happen to me 4-5 times on the undead island in NW antonica..
Also happened on a few other occasions. Dont know if it is bad placement of spawnpoints, bad pathing or just bad luck..

This is a well known bug. It occurs all the time in Blackburrow on level 2 by the bridge.
It is infurating as a cleric, you heal your group who are being hit by these invisble gnolls and you end up being beaten to death Smiley: frown

EQ2 is far far from bugless. It has bugs where you can be trapped in scenery, bugs where your group is still in 'attack/battle' mode after all mobs are dead (most annoying part is you cannot revive someone who may have fell in this mode).
My Templar quest was bugged 4 times. Once, 8 skeles added from nowhere with no aggravation as I was fighting the 3 of the trial. Then, I had odd target switching where my target was forcefully changed from the skele I had on target (near dead and about to die) to a full hp one *sigh*. I zoned in, to be stuck to the door ... /camp. This and other glorious bugs almost saw me quit in disgust. It took me till attempt number 5 to find a non-bugged instance of the templar quest. I breezed through it, it is a little tough but easy enough once you know what to do. But it took 5 times to gain that non-bugged version. I had a rather large xp penalty I should never have accrued /rude SoE

SoE wrote the game, I guess you cannot expect much better Smiley: frown

I was in Wailing Caves and saw one better.

"Unknown" was having a helluva fight with "Unknown"! Yup- TWO Unknowns beating on each other. I would've stayed around to see who won but, of course, the winner would be Unknown.

Yes, this has happened many times to me. The best way to target those mobs that "vanish" is to use /assist while targeting the person that is being hit. If you are being it, turn on auto-attack and you will automatically face the enemy. You can still do damage to it, even though you aren't able to see it. The only bad thing about it is that you won't be able to loot the body.

I really dont see why alot of people are saying stuff like this..
Sure there are bugs but consider how big this game is, how many quests, mobs etc.. I doubt anyone would code the game any better.
Sure they could have fixed alot more stuff before release but there will allways be bugs.. So release the game when they did or 3 years later when all bugs have been treated and the game is obsolete?

There are no bug-free games.

Of course there are no bug free games (look at Star Wars:KotOR2), but what people are angry about is the number and volume of bugs in the game. It almost feels like its a beta at points. All Im suggesting is that instead of trying to beat WoW to the shelves, they should have held back a little longer to smooth out some of the larger kinks.
Im sure in time these will be fixed, but it still bugs people that they are paying for something that seems to be to rough around the edges to be released. Its a normal thing in the industry though, developers rush to beat out the competitors.
Be glad this is a computer game and not a console game or it never would get fixed (except that select few online console games).

Waste-

I feel your pain. Believe me I do.

But, having come from Mythic's travesty called Dark Age Of Camelot, I feel that I can safely say SoE has done a fantabulous job with the rollout of EQ2. I've been there for several MMORPG rollouts and this one was, without a doubt, the smoothest rollout I've ever been a part of.

DAoC felt like a constant Beta for which we all got to pay $13/month to test for them. Whereas SoE made a mistake (the NPC merchant fiasco) ands promptly 'fixed' it, Mythic wouldn't even acknowledge that there was a problem. If I heard "Working as intended." one more time from their CSRs (assuming you could find one- they didn't even have 1 per server most of the time), I was going to grab a rifle and head for the clock tower.

SoE has surely made some blunders (not going to rehash it here- you all know what's number 1 on my list of their screwups) and maybe they've been slower than we'd like to fix some issues that have existed since launch (recipes broken and the like). But, as a well-known aviation expert once said: "I'd rather have a plane that goes like hell and has a few things wrong with it than a plane that doesn't go like hell and has a few things wrong with it." Well, I like to play a game that's pretty damn good, even if it does have some bugs rather than a game that isn't any good and has a few bugs in it.
