Some questions for inquisitorsFollow

#1 Dec 13 2004 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
First, does INT do anything for you? Does it help with your nukes/DOTs? Or is it worthless, and it all goes off of wis?

Second, is agi worth anything to you, or does your heavy armor sufficiently cover for your defense, so you don't have to worry about it? Or is it so-so, but worth having?

Third, how is your melee capability? I've been wanting a sort of jack of all trades -- should I scratch it and just go for wis, or should I get a race with reasonable str and have an okay time with my weapon, as well? Of course, I don't expect to be fighting like a berserker, but I'm wondering if the melee damage is alright.

Fourth, and similarly, how is the nuking/DoT? Is it way better than the melee? Again, should I just go with power, or is it worth it to go for a little str?

Fifth, any advice? I'm really stuck on what race to pick. I won't get the game until Christmas, but I want whatever head starts I can, so that I'll be at least closer to even ground. Any regrets you've had, or things you've discovered to make your life easier? And what race would you recommend, and why?

Int is not for nukes when you are a priest. This is not FFXI where Int increases damage output for attack spells for all mage jobs. Priest jobs rely on Wisdom to do all of their spells.

You cannot melee worth a crap as a an Inquisitor. However, you CAN solo very very well. Your power comes from your magic, your ability to cast Heal on Damage spells, de-buffs, nukes, and buffs. You can wear heavy armor as an Inquisitor, so you can take hits better than many other mage/priest jobs BUT you are not a tank. You cannot solo big groups of mobs easily, but in a one on one battle you can take out yellows and oranges pretty easily, as long as you know your limitations and what kind of mob you fight.

Str. is useless as an Inquisitor. You're not there to do melee damage. In a group you'll be doing very little nuking unless you have another priest class with you. Your job, as an Inquisitor, is to debuff, keep tank alive...and yes, if you want to you can whip out your weapons and help melee, but don't expect to do a lot of damage. Toss in a nuke IF you know the fight will not be a strain on your MP/healing.

Wisdom is the stat you need to go for. And +Power (MP). Every other stat is going to be pretty weak compared to your Wisdom, but that's the stat that is going to affect you most. You are not going to be a RDM in this game, there is no "jack of all trades". Inquisitors, like most Priest classes - have decent nukes, good solo capability, poor melee skills, tons of debuffs and heals and buffs.

Hope that gives you some insight :)

Thanks, that helps a ton. The ffxi analogies even helped :)
My main intention is to solo, so the reason that I was wondering was whether I would normally be trying to outlast an enemy by healing myself and meleeing, or whether I would be nuking, healing, and tanking. So it is the latter. My nukes are stronger than my hammer. That will come in very handy when making race choices :)

Iksars are looking better and better ;)

Ok above peoster did a great job with covering the group side now let me tell you a bit about soloing.
I am a lvl 21 Inquisitor and I can solo mobs that are lvl 25^
I wear set of pristien carbonite armor so means I got almost the same AC as tanks of my lvl, I do get hit more as Iam a priest not a tank but I can stand my field and even tank for a group if we dotn have a fighter ith us. As for soloing you need to know your job well and then soloign is easy. you debuff mobs, nuke and heal yourself - your melee dmg is low !
Inteligence is useless to you, wisdow is important to have more power points, agiliy is useful but not as much as wisdom. Other stats ar pretty much useless to you at this point
(besides stamina of course)Just remember that soloing is not the reason to play MMORPG game. In e2 many if not all classes can solo to some degree but experience will be slower than group exp.
I solo a lot but it is becasue I like to explore our vast zones - and exploring in groups usually ends up with BIG exp debt shared by everyone ;-)
Hope this helped a bit - if you have any more questions - shoot !

Actually, this is not true. In addition to power from WIS or INT (depending on your class), they have other functions such as determining the success rate of landing (and avoiding) a spell (WIS) and the amount of damage it does (INT) for all classes.

STR is only good for weight allowance and power for fighters. Your weapon is what determeines your attack power. STR does efect combat art damage, I believe, but I doubt an inquisitor has alot of melee arts.

A ratonga hits for the same amount as an ogre(regular attack), but lands hits more often and dodges more often. The hit rate is up for debate, but I definitely dodge more as a ratonga.
