The spirit is so hard to get if its the last part you need. Only way to get the spirit is to get it first ( you also get other 2 parts at the same time you get spirit). This seems to be the "only" way to get the spirit until the bug is fixed.
So if you get any other auto parts before spirit, delete the quest at start again.

Also, don't "examine" any of the physical drops until you have all of the auto-journal parts done. Examining items can prevent them from dropping also.

I have had the quest for a few weeks and the spirit dropped for me 2 nights ago. I had everything else already and that was the last thing soooo......unless you are stating that it just became bugged, it dropped 2 nights ago on permafrost in the caves for me
Well, in that case, the bug is that you can delete the quest when you've made several hundred kills without getting the spirit, restart it, and all 3 journal drops including the spirit will be found on the very next kill. This is the same behaviour that many many many people are talking about on the official forum.
