A question about my house, and, a little about the economy.Follow

Heya fellas, quick question. What good is owning a room besides auctioning stuff out of it? See, I haven't participated in the games economy AT ALL. I don't plan on auctioning anything. Should I just sell the room?

On a side note, I haven't bought any gear from a person, or even an npc for that matter. All my gear is from questing. The only things I buy from an npc are rations and water. Is that ok?
Is it ok for me to just completely avoid the player economy and rely on npcs?

Sure you could get by that way, but what do you do with all the loot you get(e.g. adepts, armor, etc)? That stuff sells for little o a vendor compared to a player. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. Either way, you can increase your profit by a LOT in the long run.

It's not like you have to take part in the stuff, but the room is 5sp a week and you have to log for sleep anyways.

Log for sleep? What do you mean? Forgive my ignorance of the game, I suppose I was too lazy to research these things on my own.

I meant that you log off/camp when you go to sleep. However, if you have a room you can just leave your guy in merchant mode during that time. This way you don't sacrifice any "playing" time, but you do have the chance of selling some items. I do it and suprisingly, many people do actually buy stuff at 5am.

Also, it would take you forever to get all your skills brought up to addept I trying to rely on drops alone. Buying app IIIs from players is a quick way to get all your skills up to par while waiting to find an addept I for it, which, if you don't buy from other players, may never happen.

Yeah, I have all apprentice 2 spells right now. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy from other players. God, I hated FF11's economy so much. I hated how greedy someone could get by jacking something way up in price, and if it was the only one there, and you needed it, you were forced to purchase it. I was kinda hoping to avoid any player based buying/selling of goods in eq2, but, it seems impossible. I'm lv 17 right now, I'll wait till lv 20 before I dive into the economy. sigh...

The player economy really isnt that bad :) Surely there are some people with..ahem, high prices, but if you just check on the spells/skills you need from time to time, you're bound to find a deal sooner or later.

For instance, my 21 Paladin has a spell/skill called Demonstration of Faith. I've been using the apprentice 1 version of that spell for a long time..and well, it stinks. I try never to buy the apprentice 2 versions of spells because i find them as a waste, so I've been looking for the Adept1 version, or even apprentice 3, for quite some time. The cheapest I could find it for quite some time was around 80 silver, usually around a gold. The other day however, a person was selling it for 15 silver! Super steal! So just keep an eye on the market, do a search here, a search there, and you'll find the bargains :)

Hi
I am new to this too i was just wondering how do you find players to buy from and how do you sell things from your room.

Well I use a room to round out my character - It has furniture in it - set up around and not just a table and the picture and chandeler you get -

I have not done so at this point - but I figure I could allow guild meetings to be held there as well or just have friends over to drink and chat with.

As to using the market - I have used it quite a bit. Merchants around Qeynos are rip-offs usually and charge outrageous prices on just about everything. Not that the market recently is much better for costs.

What I do is look at my bulletin board or the Brokers board - then GO to the vendors room and buy directly. This has saved me no end to silver especially on higher cost items - brokers charge more for higher cost items.

I could probably quest for more stuff than I do, but I found that finding groups for a specific quest is a pain most of the time. If no one else is doing that particular quest - they don't seem to want to have anything to do with you. (This is not always true - some gentle souls will sometimes help regardless).

ahh you cannot Log-off or camp while selling . . . your toon will leave the world.

What I think is meant is you as a player - leave and go do other stuff, like sleep, have dinner, spend quality time with your wife who is really mad at you for spending all your time online . . .

Not the toon in the game - it has to stay awake and sell.
