Ok out of curiosity has anyone heard of any such thing? If so is there one out and about? I've been noticing every once in a while that in certain groups we've had tons of chests drop and the same few people always walk away with the prize. Perhaps bad luck?

pronaly not. i think they would make that kind of stuff all server side, so it couldnt be hacked. i think it just seems like the same person gets the drops more than anyone eles becouse its purly random. each drop everyone has the same chance to get any drop it dosnt matter who got the last few drops, they can still get the next few.

Yes, all funtions like that are server side, and would be incredibly hard if not impossible to tamper with. If someone could do that, then they could just go in and change levels, weaken mobs etc.

I had the same streak of bad luck the other day. In a party for hours, and out of about 40 drops, I get 2. I was so mad!!

More often than not I end up on the other side of that phenomenon. More than once I have been the only person in a group to get drops. Period. I usually notice this and split some stuff with the group, if only so I don't feel greedy later ^^

I can testify that it's not a hack, though. But I'd be the person winning the lotto all the time, so take that as you will.

I have a feeling that this may be a bug in the game. I was experiencing the same thing the other day, losing every lotto, and then we tried breaking up the group, and reforming, and it was fine after that. And I don't mean I lost out on 5 in a row. I lost out on more like 30+ in a row, in a group of 4 people. :P

I've heard it is somewhat based on what order you join the group. It's impossible to tell, and it's probably not intentional, but it is possible that the order on the list skews the probability somehow.

Well, I suppose that would make sense. It could seem kinda fair, in a strange way, that a player who just joined the group five minutes ago would not be getting the same amount of loot as someone who has been in the same group for hours. But, I would think that it would be more like a -1% to -5% penalty, not a -95% penatly O.o

Well we had it the other day where one person seemed to win every lotto. However we had been grouped for an hour or two when he joined us. That would tend to point against the time-in-group theory

I play with the same folks everyday and we noticed that the lotto system wasnt fair , so we stopped using it and went back to ML . We have 1 person master loot the whole time and as we go, if stuff drops people need and will use we random for it right as it drops. What ever is left over ( sell loots) we all roll on at the end of the day and then all coin is split between all members of the group . We try to be fair and make sure everyone who puts in time gets something for it even if it is only loot to sell . If there isnt enough sell loots left over then the folks who won rolls for gear they can wear pass on rolls so folks who won nothing can win sell loots at least.

We have a group going yesterday for hours then one person had to go right before we were done , so we did our split and they left and we added a new person to the group . After pulling maybe 4 more mobs we were done and rdy to leave , we did our rolls again ( for the 2 chest drops we got after the new guy joined us)and the only person who didnt win anything was the new person . There were 2 items to roll on and I won one of them and another member of the group that had been there all day won the other , So I passed my win to the new person so EVERYONE would win something as I had won on the rolls earlier.

We offten have more then 20 items to roll on at the end of the day after all needed loots are dealt with , so most times everyone in group walks away with 3 to 4 things to sell anyway. Which is better IMO then one person walking away with everything as the lotto favors them .

Negative.
I had won nothing, nothing!, in 4 day on grouping. around 6-8 hours a day of playing. I normally one of the group starter, but someone, who joined the group 2-3 hours after the group started, could won 3 - 4 items and I still won nothing.

So 2 thought pop in my mind:
1) I have heard someone said sometimes they won everything they lotto'd, sometimes they won nothing at all. so I think this maybe related to the character's birthday(character creation day) and the day you lotto the items.
2) The more you play, the less you won from lotto. (I know its non-sense. But its all about game balance.) so everyone won similar quantity of items. And no one will specially wealthier than other players(which I think its not fair).

Maybe I am wrong, but its just a thought.

Edit: another thought.
3) Maybe lotto winning is realted to the group level average. Or zone level average.
facts: I joined a golem group in Varsoon cave when I was lvl 25. All golems we killed are lvl 33-34(which I missed my hit 90% of the time) I won nothing from lotto. my other groupmates are all from lvl 27-29. later when I was lvl 27 I joined a group of 5 which lvl range from 24-26. we focus on killing some lvl 29 golems, I won 2 awesome gloves and some books.

again: just a thought.

Lotto is rediculously un-fair.

Almost everyone I group with is fine with ml and fair split.

Those that have had a problem with it have had no problems finding another group.

The biggest problem I have found with ml, is usually people haven't taken the time to do bag quests or buy bags yet.

My own two CP.

I've been on both sides of the fence.. on days when I seem to get jipped, the next day, I seem to be the one who gets it alot. So, at least in my experience, it's basically evened itself out.

I think you're looking too deep for explanations.

This is a Computer RNG. They are notoriously un-random, especially if asked to random 1-4. I would not be at all surprised to find their coding was that naive. Just use the built-in RNG in whatever language they use (presumably C) and give it parameters of the number of people in the group. With such appalling granularity the chance of it being fair is almost nil.

No need to try and link it to birthdays, starsigns or the number-sum of the numeric value of the letters in your name Smiley: smile

Ya I wouldn't be suprised to see seniority in a group effects lottos. I led a group last night, out of the 5 rare items that drops, I won 3. But I always play my groups NBG anyhow, and if no one needs, up for lotto.
