Anyone interested in hardcore play?Follow

I posted this on the eq2players forum and got a few interesting responses. Is there anyone interested in playing hardcore? Meaning when you die you are dead and your character is out of the game.

you can do that?

would be a crap way to play IMO, you would be too scared to try and kill stuff.

I don't think I'd be up to do this with just anyone but if I had a set party with trusted people, I could see it being fun. Raises the senses of excitement and accomplishment. Of course, the first time any major lag or server problems come around, you're gonna be screaming bloody murder.

Well I for one have gone for double up greens solo and taken on a few yellows. Came really close to biting it a few times. The one thing that really irritated me was NOT paying attention to the mouse pointer. I was running around double clicking NPCs trying to get tasks out in Antonica. I double clicked a Sentry guard (double up red) OOPS. LOL

Axelia bites the dust at 13.

Myself and a group of friends did something along these lings in EQ1. Although we didn't go so far as to simply give up after the first death.

What we did do, was agree to not twink, or finance these characters, and that everything we would EVER use on them, we had to make or loot off of mobs we killed ourselves. This was way before the bazaar came out and we allowed nothing bought from other players at all. It wasn't easy, but with a little foresight and planning we did reasonably well. Got bored of the idea in the late 40's and moved on.

That reminds me of this flight sim game in the 1980s. If you put it in "extreme" mode, and you crashed, the game would destroy itself somehow! This was back when games were on floppies, and this was possible.

The theory was that it added "real life excitement". needless to say, the idea didn't take off.
