Dec 10 Patch Notes - Crafters are Back in BusinessFollow

My next question...

Has anyone found invis potions yet? hehe

I miss the ability to sneak invis (FFXI, RDM) and go explore different areas. I'd be more than willing to pay a good price for a potion that would let me do that. Smiley: tongue

I'm glad that SoE reconsidered their changes.

However, that doesn't mean that they are or should be immune to criticism for ever having considered such an ill-conceived change in the first place. It was a blatant overreaction to a -comparatively- minor problem in the game. I say minor because there are tons more pressing issues for crafters (namely that dropped crafting books will not scribe and many recipes remain broken) than this one.

Not that I know of.. Sadly, this thread contains the most I've been able to find. Most of them are short buffs with weak stats that last between 30seconds to 3 minutes.

Adiemus, they said right up front that it was a temporary ban on selling finished goods to merchants until they could get the merchant buy prices adjusted. They didn't "reconsider" anything. They just got the price fix in quicker than expected.

They might not have reconsidered anything but it certainly lit a fire under someone's *** over there. After the patch came out, there were over 5,000 posts in the tradeskill forums in SOE in 24 hours. To put that in perspective, there were only 15,000 total before that.

Today, they announced that it wouldn't take a week to reprice everything but that it only took them 24 hours. They also announced that they would work on *some* of the critical bugs that people have been complaining about for a month now.

For those that didn't play EQ1 -

SoE held a summit a while back, I think it was over the summer. They basically said "You guys were right, we haven't been listening to you and providing very good customer service, we are going to change that". They invited a lot of prominent players from the game and also the webmasters from some of the better known sites. (And no, Allakhazam didn't get an invite, he doesn't know why, and I think that's crappy, but anyway...)

SoE pretty much held to their word. They listened to what the player base wanted, and started rolling out patches after that. All changes made to the game had an asterisk by it, indicating a player requested change. CS improved quite a bit, also.

SoE is still not perfect (and no, I'm not a fanboi). But they know they're not the only game on the block anymore, and they have a lot of serious competition. I think that's one of the reasons that they fixed this issue so quickly after everyone got so upset.

Will they continue to listen? Who knows. I sure hope so. But I honestly think that the old SoE is gone, or at least they aren't as bad as they once were.

Cross your fingers, folks. Smiley: grin

I'm sorry but this whole thing was caused by SOE not listening to the crafters. People have been complaining for months about various bugs and design flaws. This last nerf was just enough to push them over the edge. I think SOE reacted because of the pressure, not because they're on their best behavior.

honestly I can't say.. my programming experience is enough for me to know I didn't want to do it for a living..

they may have had someting in the works but I suspect player outcry made them decide to do a partial release of the update sooner than origionally planned..

anywho, crafters are back in business which is good.. and I hope the current model in place allows them to continue to do what they do and enjoy the game.

Well, normally.. Sony doesn't listen, and Sony doesn't care. But hey.. maybe they've seen the error in their ways.

Big difference in food. I noticed a big difference in using crafted food and drink over summoned. Summoned I'm dead at the end of the battle because I ran out of power and couldn't regen back enough power for the one last reactive heal... Crafted food and Drink I'm alive at the end of the battle usually with power to spare.

Everyone, power level your craft before you will need more money to buy fuel and other resources when the changes take effect. When they finally do implement these changes I wonder if there's going to be a public outcry once more.

"I've been paying 20s for your drinks, now you want to charge me 25s? No way!"

"But SOE upped my costs. I can no longer make drinks at the same price and sell them to you for 20s. Fuel costs have gone up and the item costs me more to make! My fuel prices are reaching the same prices that they charge in California!"

"No thanks, I'll just buy someone else's drinks or buy from a merchant... thanks alot a-hole!"

"SOE!!! I hate you! *growl* May you all die a thousand deaths! This is supposed to be a fantasy game!"
