I'll be staying for quite some time, but I'm also thinking about giving WoW a try.

There's lots of things I really enjoy about EQ2, like the quests, the lore, the visuals, and generally the combat. Theres also alot of stuff i dislike, like the lack of quests at around 15-20 (at least for soloing), the steep incline and length of leveling for soloing at 15+, and again, the soloing :) Being a soloist myself, it can become frustrating when the difficulty ramps up so much, mainly the time to level.

Reguardless, I'll be here for a long time. Loved EQ1, and I love EQ2 as well.

I find myself going back to eq1 every other day or so, eq2 is too much like a playstation game, sometimes.

myself i am going to give wow a try. i have played almost every mmorpg ever to come out. big name ones like lin1,lin2,d2,eq1,swg, and ffxi. I played some smaller ones and eq2 isnt really doing it for me right now. i lvl'd my first character to 18 in 4 days. then lvled another character to 21 in 3 days. the game is quite easy. its been out for a month and some servers have kids getting ready to hit end game. The game isn't interesting like ffxi and lin2. its boring and bland the job structures and party structures are horrible. a party has no basic sctructure like it did in ffxi and the jobs are too much alike. WoW here i come

If you're worried about how easy the game is, I would not recommend WoW. There were people pingin 50 after like two weeks.

I have only been an eq1 player for a year, But i have to say that soe has done a great job with giving us a solid game with out a lot of bugs. If they were to add more solo content then the game would be great. another thing i dont like is not being able to make plat from spells. I like eq's old spell system and wish they would have stuck to it.

As far as forcing people to group, then putting group xp debt on top of it seems a little strange. But the community on EQ2 is what is going to keep me playing. I've played WoW and it really is a cool game...except for the people in it. It seems like everyone is more willing to help others, and just be good natured on EQ2. That to me, is it's most enduring quality

eq2 is fun i like it but like every group i get i end up with big debt from other players =\

only other thing i have a problem with is lag in places like qeynos, other than that its fine usually

After my trial is up i'll be leaving for a month or two then come back. My own fault really, since I loath developing economies and games where they don't have players of all levels. Just couldn't resist the temptation of the box...

Love the HO system, it was one of the two reasons i bought the game. I'm a little disappointed in the rareity in which you'll get a group to even try them, let alone do them well. Guess that'll work itself out in time, hence my decision to take a break.

Love the tradeskill system, even if they did really make me mad with the temp ban on merchant selling. Tradeskills were the second reason i bought the game. Love the complexity, and even the interdependence (though people will most likely just make an alchemist alt to get around the worst of it). I wanted to make food with one char and potions with other, so the lack of descriptions on them really hit me hard. Another thing that'll be hopefully fixed when I return.

Can't get enough of the quest system and the voiceovers. I don't care how big the patch dls get, if it makes npcs and monsters talk more, i'm gonna dl it. Those two factors really increase the imersiveness of the game for me. Wish they'd make more use of the instance system for the killing quests. Nothing more dull than camping spawns or mowing down greys to clear a quest. (deleting the gray quests just go against my personality..) Did enough camping in EQ1 to fill two lifetimes, if takes more than a half hour of killing trivial monsters, I just refuse to do it. With the existing technology, there should be no need for it. Please eq devs, remove access flags. Not fun in EQ1, even worse in eq2 when people expect better. If you're going to do it, make it in instanced zones where the content is adjusted to be challening to the group level.

Absolutly loath the merchant system. It single handedly killed most of my enthusiam for tradeskilling. Coming for FFXI and WoW beta, it looks painfully dated. The issue with selling trade skill stuff to merchants and that post that the dev did about the reason behind the room selling are the two instances in where EQ2 truly got me angry. Group whipes in BB due to invis mobs are forgiveable, broken recipies and quests are forgivable, but bad design IN SPITE of tons of player feedback isn't.

Whines aside, i'll definately be back in a few months. Prolly with an extra account for a boxed merchant. >.> And to think about how hard i laughed at boxers in eq1.. How humiliating.

As much as i absolutely loved EQ1 and despite the enormous amount of bugs i personally seem to experience on a daily basis with eq2 i absolutely cannot go back. I've tried playing EQ1 here and there but i find myself standing in pok for 30min because there aint jack to do. As long as the quests keep it interesting and the lfg system keeps going strong im not going anywhere.

I keep finding myself writing in here "for all the amazing things they did so well, how could they have screwed up in other areas - and screwed up so badly?"

The game is in many ways much more user friendly - easier to play. The graphics are neat - the talking npcs - the quests - many other very cool features.

For me their biggest mistake is lack of tactical variety. I'm doing the same thing over and over again. Engage, HO, HO, HO, dead. Or if my druid gets a group - his healing is actually more diverse than soloing! Gah! Cuz sometimes he has to Subterfuge to get mobs off him - or heal himself instead of others. Wow. What dazzling variation! Sorry, but... again, for getting so much so right, how could they have gotten this part so wrong?

I got this game the night it came out and me and some friends started playing with in an hour of getting it. At first I was like this is like playing Diablo 2 but with better graphics and didnt really care for the game. But once I played for a couple days and got to venture out into Commonlands it started getting fun and I got more involved in it till I hit lvl 21 with the Troll SK I made and couldnt find good/or sometimes any groups and had to try and solo in Nek forest, talk about boring, killing the same skellies over and over and over. My friends I bought the game with left and went to WoW but I being a 3 your vet to EQ1 stayed with EQ2 and made me a Woodelf Scout. Im lvl 13 now and started to get back into having fun with the game.

Thought it was fairly easy to solo with my SK cause of the AC and Hps he had but with this scout and his bow and the fact I can add posion ,Im soloing Yellow and Orange mobs without any problems sometimes not even taking damage when I kite them with just the bow.

I also wish I would have started playing a good race in the start, Freeport is ok but Qeynos just looks so much better and Commonlands is so dark and drab compared to Antonica, just seeing this part of the game has got me more interested with all the wonderfull looking landscapes in Antonica.

I seen a lot of people complaining about Access Keys, IMO I like the idea, I didnt find the quests to hard in Freeport to get into the zones and had all the keys for Commonlands zones, I havent played much with my SK in the 3rd tier zones trying to get the Keys but in 2nd tier I loved it, made me want to try and get them just to see what was in the zone and I was always happy with what all I found.

As far as dislikes for the game I dont have many cept for some of the ones all ready talked about (Forced to group(I am a solo type player), Tradeskill deal they put in where you need other players and the lack of solo mobs) but in all Im haveing a good time doing the quests and seeing all the graphics. I plan to stay with this game for awhile.

I guess I dislike that I have that I didnt read in any of the post so far is the fact I cant label areas on my map like I could in EQ1, I like finding a place and beingable to add a label to it, so I know exactly where it is at to come back to later on. I hope they add that to this game soon.
