Soloists RP Guild in Qeynos (Lucan DLere)Follow

#1 Dec 09 2004 at 11:13 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings!

I am interested in starting a guild for people who love playing EQ2 but who generally prefer to solo and who want support for some of the aspects of the game which are easier with help from others: status points (city writs), crafting past level 10, raids for rare items, and important quests such hallmark or armor quests after level 19.

Ideally we would have enough different members to accomplish all of those things, however, the most important goal is for us to be a network of players who enjoy the challenge of doing things on our own and who are looking for a group of people for roleplaying, advice, support, and to help ourselves get as much out of the game as possible.

There isn't going to be a driving leadership, just myself who will act as the message board and guild admin. I founded a 501c3 nonprofit organization and I work as an online moderator so I have lot's of experience with both leadership and online communities. My role will be as a supporter and facilitator, rather than a leader, though I maintain the right to remove members.

Last but not least this is the type of member I am looking for: You prefer to do things on your own and would solo this entire game if you could. You enjoy being with others, but you dislike being dependent on them. You enjoy helping others. You maintain some form of real life honor code because you recognise that there are real people behind these characters. You are interested in roleplaying and will actively seek out ways to encourage roleplaying within the guild chat while at the same time having tollerance for out of character conversation.

If this is you then please contact me at:

Screen name: Xeather
Server: Lucan D'Lere
email: netpaladin@cableone.net

If this is not you then please black list me because we will only make each other miserable if we run into each other in game!

Thanks!!

I seriously wish you were on the Blackburrow server :) I have yet to see any guilds on my server that pique my interests, and the one I was in was..well..meh. It wasnt my style :) Being one of what seems to be few dedicated soloists, I do find it hard to make friends, because well..I dont group :) Seeing green text and being able to ask and answer questions is always something nice to do whilst partaking in my soloist pasttime.

Oh well, I can hope one day a guild like yours comes around to my server :) Every guild I make in MMORPGs tends to..well..never happen :)

Dude no offense, but isn't the entire theory of a solo guild and oxymoron? I'm not trying to flame here, but I think the entire purpose of a guild is to do things together in order to accomplish higher goals. If you just want to chat with some people then start up a friends channel and save yourself the silver.

You can look at it as a loose band of adventurers who come together when needed, but for the most part travel seperate. Guilds don't have to be for ubers or wanna-be's, but that's how most people view them. Especially in a guild-centric game like EQ2, where the soloist is completely left out of the dev's plans.

A solo, unguilded player has no way to build city status. You have to get that through guild tasks, no way around it. And if you leave a guild, your status points drop to zero which means you want to be real sure the guild you're joining is one you will fit in at or at least to not do tasks until you are sure.

The tradeskill interdependency also makes sure that the soloist is at an extreme disadvantage, especially with the NPC buyback nerf in place. You can now not make any form of profit off items that are less than desirable to other players, and if you're making an item that requires a component bought from another player, you're taking a huge loss as the NPC will pay you only for the NPC bought items that you used. A guild like this will help out tradeskillers by hopefully providing the connections needed to fill the interdependency requirement (which one alchemist negates 90% of that, the system is so broken.)

I guess if you find that many people who want the same out of a guilld than more power to ya! Whatever makes you enjoy the game more, that's why we are playing in the first place right?

At a glance it is a contradiction, to have a guild of soloists. Mesajar aptly explains why this concept would be desirable, at least in my case.

For those on another server, who share this interest, there is no reason why we couldn't share a charter and a web page. Perhaps the guild could have a world wide name that the members know of yet each server has its own branch (since we aren't allowed to have the same name even if we are on a different server)... all loosely tied together by a common interest. This might be useful when something like EQ3 comes out or for members who have alts on different servers or who play other MMORPGs. I liked soloing in FFXI too. : D

I'll gladly hand over the 60 silver needed to get the charter, however, I am required to have 5 other people present with me before city officials will grant it. So if you are interested in grouping with me in order to help get the charter then please contact me in game. I'll be on most of the weekend.

I also mentioned to someone else off the boards that I plan on keeping the guild message boards open to the public so that people can participate or gain information without having to be a member of the guild. So, even if someone is on another server or doesn't want to join they can still get some support and information.

I have a few evil characters, 2 atm to be exact that I actually play, and I have one Iksar (lvl 10 atm) that I am going to do betrayal with. I have an IRL friend with an Iksar (also lvl 10) doing the betrayal quest with me. We've already started an RP for these two - they're kind of partners/friends - and was wondering when we get to Qeynos if I could look you up, or if you know of any other good Qeynos RP guilds.

Thanks in advance :) the character name I plan to betray with is Izavahss, my friend is playing Kjirass.

Hiya!

A bunch of you contacted me but I wasn't able to get the charter this week. I am going out of town for 12 days and I have everyone's name written down. Hopefully when I get back enough of us will be on at the same time and we can get this going and start off the New Year with a great guild! Happy Holidays to all!

*sigh* wish you were on Toxx...

most guild structures I've seen have been almost military in design..

"guild meeetings are mandatory"

"you must group with us and show us how you play and think before you will be considered for membership!"

gah, dun have time to be at my computer at X time on X day on demand sometimes... and the other almost makes it seem like a job interview.. oi.. !_!

I like your concept of a group of people who do things together when the need arises and can communicate but it's cool to be an individual and still be part of a group.

:-\

oh well...

Wish you were on Nektulos. I really like soloing, (I just don't like groups that much - many people are so greedy and fight over loot, or in a rush yelling "pull, pull pull", I need to feel like I can take a restroom break or cigarette break without inconveniencing anyone, etc.) but at the same it gets lonely not having anyone to talk to while I'm killing mobs or running around questing. I don't really care for the roleplay part, but if anyone on Nektulos would like to start a non-uber guild that's just a bunch of grown-ups having fun talking in /guildchat, I'd love to join!
