and then afterwards they just gave it out to everyone else for free a month from now
This happened with PoK books in EQ1. I finally broke down and bought my wife planes of power so she could enter the plane of knowledge, and then 1 month later they opned the zone to everyone. The zone should have been available to all subscribers since it was a critical zone to form groups and travel...
EvilGnomes, I can only wish I had the moxy and spirit to rant against the machine like you do. I spent my load against SOE years ago on the original official EQ1 boards and just can't manage to generate the same passion for EQ2 at all. They have already nerfed it, it's like Progeria, a rare advanced aging disease: EQ2 is already in the nerf throes that EQ1 was spared for about 3 years after release. We are just getting it 35 months earlier than we expected. Nothing has changed, nothing will change, it isn't going to get better like most of us hoped.
As for affirmative player action making a difference? Look at the recent EQ1 "summit" where players were so disgusted with Sony that they (SOE) tried to make appearances like they would placate us and make it a good game... We got 1 round of problems addressed then right back on /ignore.
As for trying constructive channels rather than just venting, forget it. We are just monthly subscription $$ to them. The only voice we have is the cancel button. I used to be so altruistic that I thought differently, that it was about 'the game', and that they actually cared about the game that we poured hours, days, years of time into. They don't care anymore than getting that next online payment.
As for the VAKs, or SAKs, now that Sony owns it, they will always be there and just like politics and religion, there is nothing you can do to help them see the error of their ways. They have a new motto there in sony fanboi land: Tread on me, Oh! Tread on me again!
Get your credit cards out cause this isn't the end by far... Me, I'm going to do the smart thing and just buy stock in SOE. Where else can you find such a vapid customer base?
