I have been reading alot here latley on the many forums that I vist about people crying over the Paladins Holy Steed, While we are at it lets just get the Druids nerfed because they can cast SoW , Chanty's because they can Mez and lets not forget how unfair for the clerics to get to heal ( can you taste my sarcasam )alot of the same crap used to happen on EQ, people would get jealous of another class they would come to forums and cry until it got nerfed. I cant believe that people would get so upset over not being able to run as fast as a horse, thats just plain stupid, It all boils down to a bunch of jealous babies and im sure some is gonna get on here and try to use the word unbalnced and that is also stupid, if you know how to run the game better go put your app in to SoE and after you get hired then change it. Also if its not crying than I dont know what else it could be I mean people are having a fit and act so mistreated because of an ability on a video game, I mean in the long run how does it hurt if it even does run a lil fatser i mean it doesnt increse the attributes that really matter in the gtame so why all the complaning?

People always ***** aboutsoemthign thye dont have/cant get - no worries man it is ok...
I have to admit that I am a bit jelous that you get a horsie and my inquisitor gets the cringe thing - at least it could be forced kneel or somethin but life is not always fair ;-)
BTW - SOE could work a bit more on the horses, they apear to be a bit too small and look like silly ponies

not to add to it, but also note that the horse doesn't provide any speed bonus while in combat, and you still cannot sprint while riding it. So unless you break the encounter you will be the last one to get away.

Talk about cry babies. You come on here and flame for half a page. STFU and play the game. it it gets nerfed it is because sony sees it needs to. It has nothing to do with ppl posting on a fourm and if you think it does you are extreamly ignorant.

They are complaining not because they want a horse. Or because they don't want you to have a horse... But because you get a spell that is actually useful and looks cool compared to the other classes. That is the complaint.

Priests healing, etc. are class abilities. A Paladin without the horse is still a Paladin. Giving him or removing the horse does not change the class. Removing heals from priests and mes from enchanters does break their class. The horse does not make a Paladin tank better or wear heavier armor, it makes them faster (regardless of % of speed) than the rest of the Fighter classes and any other class that does not have the innate ability to speed themselves up in their main line of spells. Main line are those spells each class gets as they level up by default, not a scroll that is store bought.

Now, the complaints are because of all the store bought 'extra' spells that are sold at level 20 and again at level 40, the Paladin and Shadow Knights actually get a very useful and cool looking spell. Compare that to another Fighter class that has their hand glow. I understand the complaint there.

One last time, the horse bought spell is NOT the class defining ability of the Paladin or Shadow Knight. If it were, they would be called Cowboys and not Paladins or Shadow Knights. It just boggles my mind the examples of "remove such and such class' innate ability" to defend the horse spell.

I know this I was just being sarcastic by using those examples to prove how silly it is to want something like this nerfed.

Actually paladins throughout D&D and fantasy are holy knights and do get holy mounts. Shadowknights are Anti-Paladins, and have always received unholy mounts. EQ2 just fixes what it neglected in EQ1.

Man Tios, all he was doing was expressing his opinion about an issue. He didn't attack any individual person, unlike you who comes on here and tells him to STFU and called him ignorant. It its abusive jerks like you who make playing the game a hassle. Why dont you go back to your mother and have her teach you some manners. It is one thing to express an opinion, but to attack an individual just because you don't like what they have to say is totaly uncalled for.

I don't think it should get nerfed, but in comparison, my bought spell is pretty damn lame. I make a member of my party, who must be a lower level than I am, bow to me. That's all. Compare that to something as useful and badass as a horse, and there are bound to be some disappointed people. So, no, I don't think the Pallies' horses should get nerfed, I just think the rest of us should get something usefull, too.

I think I'd buy the templar level 20 if it worked this way:

You're walking down the street. You activate your ability of Faithful Respect and everyone you walk past bowes to you. Level 50's? Yeah, they bow to you. Only once, though (no need for it to keep going, like those damned wandering NPCs who just won't shut up.) Well, I don't even need the level 50's to bow to me, I won't mind it being lower level if it was a passive ability and worked on anyone (without you having to trigger it on a member of the group.)

On a side note, how fast is the horse? Is it normal run speed? Is it sprint speed? If it's normal run speed, meh, who cares. It's not useful at all then, it's just for the wow factor.

I think if certain classes get a useful ability at level 20 (i.e. a Horse) and others get a stupid hawk that does nothing, its not fair. They should at least give every ability "a use". Plain and simple!

If someone is complaining that other classes have better abilites than theirs, then yes they are "cry babies".

My brother is a paladin and gets a horse. I am a Predator, soon to be a Ranger, and I get a Hawk that does nothing. That IS NOT fair! I also think SOE will nerf that at one point.

Neither life nor this game are fair. If you want a horse, play a Paladin or a Shadowknight. Or save up and buy one at the stables. I guarantee you that the purchased one will be better than the summoned one that they get.

My wizard gets a cat. He doesn't do anything. He sits there and licks his paws. Some people have said that he'll distract a mob if you have to run away, but I've yet to be in a situation like that, so I don't know. But hey, guess what? I'm not losing any sleep over my useless cat! I think he's cute, and fun to have around. I'm not worried that someone else is getting all the cool stuff. Because it doesn't really matter to me. I'm still a damn Wizard, and that's cool enough for me. :)

There was a very good postin here by gxm stating that Paaladins are knights. Knights are known throughout history and literature as being soldiers on horses. So the horse spell is rather fitting.

I do agree the other calsses should have a better lvl 20 spell however. I am not complaining for myself. I really could care less. But the fury spell is a green light that hangs over a mob. Yay.

Maybe Sony will enahnce other classes fun spell to make them more useful. BTW does being a pallidan and having the horse actually make them go sow speed or enahnce their speed in non combat? Or is it just for the looks? if it is just looks thenit shoul dbe left alone as all other classes. If it does enhance the speed, then I think all class spells should have one extra enahancement as well.

Just my 2 cents
#19 Dec 08 2004 at 1:57 PM Rating: Good
If it increases speed at all, I don't imagine it's by any substantial amount. Why, with other more pressing issues the devs have to deal with in this game, do people think that they need to worry about balancing a completely optional, purchased spell?

That's right. Optional.

I dont give a damn about the horse. My point is that some classes at level 20 get abilities that DO something and others get ablities that DONT. That shouldnt be too hard to understand. Well for some of you it will be!

Let me see a SK and paly get a horse that ........ oh just looks kool. My shaman got bear form and a stupid hawk, no granted the bear form gives power and health and I think some AC the hawk gave nota. I think druids get a cat form don't know it duz tho. I mean everyone gets something at 20L I don't think any class's ate left out in the cold. What class are u playing anyhow?

Some guild members raced one of the horses against someone with j-boots on and they were around the same speed..so there is a slight advantage to it. Nothing like sprinting though and i belive that pathfinding is even faster. Don't quote me though..haven't tried it.

I guess the question is whether the horse received by paladins and shadowknights is their "Fun" ability.

If it IS, then I would say that they got hooked up pretty nicely. If you compare it to my ranger who received the ability to summon a hawk who does nothing, or my assasin who received the ability to summon a disgusting rat that does nothing, a horse that boosts your movement rate faster than SoW and Pathfinding, seems pretty sweet to me.

Compared to the warrior ability to make their right hand glow, a speed increasing horse pretty much owns.

Coercers receive the ability to make people dance, templars make people bow. While these are fun, the dont really aid the player in any way.

If paladins and shadowknights receive this horse in exchange for a non fun ability, then I would say they got ripped off, as an AC buff, or extra taunt, or something along those lines would be more useful.

I'd like my summoned pets to attack or do something useful, but I dont want to play a paladin or sk, and i'm not jealous that their lot in life is to get beat upon by horrid creatures from the forgotten depths of norrath and beyond the grave. My job is to shoot and stab those creatures, so if a tank gets a horse (that I will be able to buy anyway later) so be it.

Personally, I like my blue glowing, smoking hand of Just[ice]. As I said on the main boards, I had all sorts of fun in my apartment, smoking up the place with my dragon. :P

Just imagine...

*activates Hand of the Just*
/dance
/shimmy
/flourish

Ahhh... yes. Fear me. ^^

But seriously... lower the price for future generations... 14s and some copper change, I think, is too much. Then again, I'm poor so... *shrug*

Seriously chaps, the pally horse aint that great. yeah it gives you a 'small' speed boost when running normally, but you cant sprint on it and when in combat it slows you down trying to get away (no sprint ye see!). I use my horse to get to places marginally quicker than most( Unless they have jboots or sow or the like) and then get rid when I need to fight where it is more of a hinderance. I was very excited to get it originally, but now can't wait to be able to afford a proper horse that doesnt run as if its got a broken leg.

Minky
