Exp at level 19Follow

Greetings
I am a bit frustrating trying to get good exp at level 19. Most of the groups in Antonica are a bit low and the ones in TS are a bit high. Someone said I could get good exp in Thundering Steppes, however, I spent an hour there with a group and got 3%.

Soloing doesn't seem to be netting me much exp in Antonica either. Most of the single mobs are green/blue requiring at leat 2 kills per 1% if not more. Many of the rest are in groups that I couldn't possibly solo.

Help!

Welcome to one of the "hell" levels. There are other ways to net xp than just killing mobs in this game. Grab a quest that cons white or higher and go out and do that quest. You will get good XP plus the mobs that you will kill for the quest will add to your XP. I find that most of my XP comes from questing rather than XP parties.

Quest and then quest again.

As far as possible everything I do is for a quest (or preferably two). I get experience from killing mobs either for the quest itself or because there are agressive mobs near the mobs I need for the quest.

I have tried just wandering around Anotonica picking up blues whites and yellows - its occasionally dangerous and xp is pretty thin in the high teens.

So I do a bit of research (great site folks - thank you) build myself a quest chain and have a planned set of tasks at or near my level - usually a couple a bit higher as well if I can get them which I explore for coming back to in a day or so.

I don't group in the eq1 way at all - but I check whether there are others looking for the same mobs and join if practical - when we have our count completed (and I stay until they are complete as well) I say my goodbyes and go on my merry way (or miserable way when I'm playing my Freeport Alt).

My favorite place to solo hunt from about 17-20 was the hill next to Gnollslayer Keep (northwest of the Steppes Station). Kodiaks, Enraged Wolves and Giant Bears a plenty. Just avoid the highwaymen.

Now, that may be because I was able to root and nuke, so perhaps it's not an ideal situation for all jobs. But I found that this was the fastest solo exp I could find.

I also tried a Thundering Steppes party, and at level 19, we were having a pretty rough go of it. (However, I suspect that a lot of this had to do with the people I was grouped with.) Keep looking, and I'm sure eventually you'll find a group that is able to take the mobs there on. :)

I always find that mass killing lower green mobs can provide some nice fast experience over time, exspecially green++ mobs.

Find the ones low enough that they can barely touch you...so that you can pull groups of three. The exp really starts rolling from "completing the encounter" bonuses.

You want great exp at level 19? Go to Stormhold.

A few places:

Vermines Snye - good quests and lots of whites and blues at 19
Black Burrow - Spiders
Stormhold - There is a slime quest you will be able to solo
Thundering Steps - just get lucky and send tells not just ooc for groups.

Once you hit 20 goto SH or TS

I did this last night with gnolls near the beach in south Antonica. Went from lvl 19& 0% (Crusader) to 91% in a few hours. Not to mention the huge number of chests that dropped. I even got one of the huge chests with a rare robe in it. Damn thing hit me for 1200 damage! All in all, good exp & very nice drops.

As someone said, Stormhold is good. But, it can also get you dead a few times depending on your group makeup, but it is great if you can stay alive.

After I cleared my Stormhold XP debt :o\ I leveled thru 19 by killing the rotstuffed scarecrows. You can find them in the fields near the TS Griffon station, and in greater numbers in the fields near the burned out farmhouse. I went from level 19 at 72% to level 20 in about 2 hours. You get about 1% per pull.

Good luck!

The best XP for soloists or duoists comes from killing green group encounters (or even blue for duoists if one of you is a priest).

Group encounters are basically all multiple mob encounters (except a few 2 or 3 mob - or -- encounters) and all single ++ encounters.

My wife and I duo (level 21 currently) and we each generally get about 1.9% for each single green ++ mob we kill, about 1.5% for each 2 grouped green + mob encounters, and about 1% for 3 or more green mob encounters.

If you can find some solo green ++ mobs you can beat consistantly then you should have no problem getting faster XP.

Fire Myst Gully gave some pretty good exp. This was the highlight since we couldn't complete the Foul Wind Quest. :/

For solo, I hunted green con gnoll groups (3-4). Pretty easy provided that there was only one shaman and the rest being soldiers. Blue thorn briars, kodiaks, wolves and darkclaw crabs with the occasional white giant bear got me to 20.
